Either way I am as mystified as Jim Bentley must have been, let alone his army of Penauses !.
Can anyone suggest an answer to this enigma ?.

As i said previously its a goal !!,the ref didn't know what to do,hence he never blew his whistle or booked Devitt -- big error on his part, but we have had enough against us,ie stone wall penalty he never gave to even it up

He was too close to the ball when the free kick was taken hence a re-take.

Watch where the foul took place ... free kick had to be from there not where it nicked from ...

But wasn't it retaken from the same place ?, so was that Ilderton's motive for disallowing the goal ??....perhaps not ??.

Was that Ilderton who was too close ?....or Devitt ?...or Windass ??.

Watching morecambe highlight clearly show that the foul was on the centre line ... whistle not blown cos the ball wasn't located in correct place

Stanley players can be where they want. Devitt was 4 yards away (as opposed to at least 10 which I assumed all fans new) and benefited from being that close, how anyone can argue the decision by the ref was incorrect is beyond belief.

Technically your correct Chewbacca, but if the ref had realised that he would have blown straight away and booked Devitt,he didn't.
We tried to play a suicidal quick free kick and got away with it.

Re: Morecambe Match Thread

Maybe the ref verbally said something and Devitt failed to hear him

Re: Morecambe Match Thread

From seeing it on a laptop screen and not 'live', it looked to me as though Mr.Crooks (I think) pointed towards the half-way line and gently toe-ended the ball forward a few feet. That would tally with the comment about the foul being further forward. Mr.Windass didn't look to be about to take the free kick, which might have because the ref hadn't blown his whistle (?).

As F19 suggests, whatever the reason it's some recompense for all the crap decisions Stanley have had to suffer this season.

I think you may be wrong
The 10 yard rule is used around the penalty area when the Ref. has stops play.
if a player wants to take an advantage from a quickly taken free kick in the outfield then the 10 yard rule does not apply

F19 says it was a goal for Morecambe and I am inclined to agree with his analysis of the situation !...and even in my dotage I can just about remember the 10 yard rule !,so your assumption is quite correct it would seem !.

Whatever the rights & wrongs of the ref's decision to disallow the goal it's given me much amusement winding the footage back again & again watching Devitt sprint off down the pitch only to be thwarted eventually by the ref & i have no qualms at all about finding it hilarious :D

As far as I know, the 10 yds rule applies everywhere. You don't have to wait for the oppo to retreat, but they can't get involved within the 10 yards if they haven't.
