When Sunderland came down Jack Ross had to trim the wage bill Rodwell was on a reported £76000 a week shifted most of them but McCready was still around on £30000 plus a week, not an easy job for a manager to then try and attract players to replace supposedly championship quality wage disparity between leagues is a joke.

in which way. too many or not enough players. can remember the bad old days of the late 70,s and early 80,s where clubs had small squads. players were regularly patched up to get through games which i doubt did em much good in later lives. that was with much lower numbers of matchday squads as we now have.

Its too tight.
Two goalkeepers leaves 18 outfield.
Theres an argument you need three keepers.
Two suspensions and two injured and your down to bare bones.
If the cap is £2.5 mill cant possibly be 20.

There's your under 21,s allowed up to 8 I believe which is a good idea breaking in youth plus I should imagine you will be allowed your usual 5 loanees in your match day squad this can give you a squad of 33 not sure.

There's nothing allowed or otherwise Andy.
All of this is nothing but conjecture.
Will be a good debate though once there is a formal agreement.

Along with 21 others - they can't have many left

their fans will be happy about that. those players are tarnished as those who took em down. when you get promoted you think the other way. those are the lads that got us up and fans opinion of em are warmer due to this.

Byron was quality when he was at Stevenage the first time round. When we played them in that play off game, I'd have given anything to have had him in a Stanley red shirt.

Yes good player but don't think his face fit at Stanley.

From what I remember he was a bit too big for his boots when he was here & his discipline wasn't too good either

That's about how I see it which by the time you've paid the extra 12/13 players the wage figure mentioned will be considerably reduced.

And its alright thinking ah well 8 of them will be on next to nothing but it doesn't work like that if they're any good and you expose them to league football unless you offer them a first-year pro contract clubs further up the food chain can come along and nick them for virtually nothing so if you say 400pw and add in bonuses you're not going to be that far short of what you were paying your lowest-paid players before.

And that takes us to what will turn out to be the most contentious aspect of this is if that is the figure it must include bonuses [ or it would be a total waste of time if what you can pay what you want as a bonus ]

And I can see a lot of players getting part-time marketing executive jobs with club owners other companies.

Northern Soul - what if your best players didnt have a direct contract with you ?
Sean McConville Ltd contracts and agrees to supply the services of ... Sean McConville ?
Just being facetious.
The point is unless this wage cap agreement is water tight the bigger clubs will find a way around it.
