According to our commercial manager in the blurb on fishy site there won't be any change in the prices for fans. Maybe Hollands wanted to put the prices up - who knows, something must've prompted the change otherwise why change from a local supplier to one based in Yaaarkshire?

I have no opinion on the superiority or otherwise vis-à-vis Pukka versus Hollands but surely Hollands are a locally based company, employing local people.
Surely, we should be supporting them in helping to continue jobs for local people, who in turn may support us.
Years ago, I worked for Matthew Brown Brewery in Blackburn for a short time, before they were swallowed up by Scottish & Newcastle, who immediately closed them down.
They had a policy of buying their trucks only from Leyland Motors, on the simple understanding that their employees drank in Matthew Brown pubs, so they would support their customers employer.
Can't see many Yorkshire folk supporting Stanley.

Hollands pies are two for a pound at Tesco, Cissy Greens both Pork and beef are the business. A little costlier but the quality is there. What a pie dilemma. There is even a film called the life of pi. I think they could catch on.

Steve !....I am still eructating from the few bites I took from this afternoons aberration of being persuaded by Alfred.E ( who is back again to annoy me !) to purchase one of Pukka Pies Meat and Potato offerings.

although we were playing well in parts earlier we were not scoring and giving the odd goal a game away relagation could have been a possibility. the phrase, we,re too good to go down, has been used many time before this season by others and will certainly be heard again.

It must all have been due to my critique of the same so-called delicacies on Saturday night that did the trick !...Someone in quality control, possibly the one who screws the lids on the pies ?, has sat up,taken notice, and improved matters. Then, fortuitously, you went and bought the very pie which they had improved upon !...So you can thank me for your bit of culinary delight in person next time we meet !.

PS. Don't count your chicken pies though.....Next time you might not be so lucky !.:-)

I think it's because I dug out my Grandma's "Notes on being a master baker in Accrington" manuscript, left to me in her will, photocopied the "Keeping Pies Perfect" chapter and sent it to Andy Holt.

PUKKA PIES AT BLACKPOOL...

Feeling peckish, and foolishly hoping that the Pukka Pies at Bloomfield Road might just have the edge over the last sorry offering I purchased at the Crown ( Wham !). I slid stealthily up to the food counter and bought one of their Meat and Potato delicacies...In front of other Meat Pie afficionados I unscrewed the lid and what do you think ?..The first centimetre layer of filling was lukewarm, the rest almost cold !.

I took it back and the Catering Supervisor immediately went in search of a Pie which could be described as Hot !.. she found one and with a smile exchanged them !..so kind !.

It was so unpalatable that I almost didn't eat it, but hunger pangs made me finish it apart from three pieces of gristly ' Meat ? '.

Am I to complete what is left of life's journey and not find a Pukka Pie which will satisfy my somewhat demanding tastes in such comestibles ?.

I've got a fiver burning a hole in my pocket so, in hope, I'll try another at the Crown this afternoon !.. .wish me luck !!

Queued up for most of half time for a pie. The queue never moved. I made the decision to forego the pie and returned back to the Clayton end terrace empty handed. I'm glad I did too otherwise I would have missed our superb goal. Something needs to be done to speed things up at the pie counter.

I did Exile AND at last the Pukka Pie was almost pukka..... I say almost because again,in the opinion of one who has tasted better, the Meat content appeared and proved to be of inferior quality !.

But it was hot, I didn't have to queue at all, so I can take some positives from the experience !.

It fooled me but an earlier post on the Fishy said Eric Twigg was supplying the pies - and I assumed that Yorkshire company made the Pukka products it was supplying at Stanley. But I suspect Lord Didders may have 'twigged' what might have gone on - off-load the old stock at football clubs where punters only have one other choice: to stay hungry.
