[B]On further reflection. I stand by my observations about the criticism aimed at Sean Mac. So much negative comment is not necessary and not helpful IMHO. I am sure that some of the players may read what we post and I do think it could strain their relationship with us the 'Supporters'. Call me naive if you wish but I am a firm believer in PRAISE.[/QUOTE]

Oh dear, Bob, I can't believe you are joining Accy Mad on the wet nursing ward staff. There is such a thing as support on the pitch and support on social media and there is absolutely no need for us to curb any negative comments on here in case we just might upset the feelings of any of our "little darlings". Get real, mate. By the way, I see no suggestion anywhere on here or on fishy that Fosu is carrying a knock, so is it something you and Accy Mad dreamed up to suit your agenda? By the way, I have no problem if Coley dropped Fosu for tactical reasons, but just can't see any point in picking an obvious passenger in his place!:D8/

OK, I'll accept no-one would rather see Stanley go out than Sean score the winner .....

If this little spat hadn't blown up and distracted me :(, I would have said sooner that (in my opinion of course) we were unlucky to lose, although we were hanging on for the last 10 minutes, that Adam Buxton and Scott Brown played fantastically well :), and that Akinfenwa changed the game :(, even though he was blown up by the ref the first 5 times he went anywhere near the ball.

:jimbo:
And I would also have given great credit to the Ultras for a fantastic 95 minute performance that on occasion even got those of us sitting demurely behind the goal joining in .... so I still will. It's the Stanley boys making all the noise ..... long may it continue, whichever league we're in :hothothot
:jimbo:

Mike..... in response..........
1) I am not 'Wet Nursing' any player, least of all Sean Mac! I have clearly pointed out that I think he is our least effective player out of those who have been picked regularly this season!
2) I have not asked or suggested or demanded that any posters on this forum 'Curb' their criticism but that they balance it with some positive comments occasionally!
3) The only 'Little darlings' that I have in my life number THREE, one of whom I am married to and the other two are my daughters!
4) I did not 'Dream Up' any story about young Fosu having an injury. I was only repeating what I was hearing from several supporters on the terraces as we walked onto the Wombles ground.
5) I don't even know who AccyMad is so I doubt that we 'Dreamed Up' anything!
6) I don't have any kind of an 'Agenda' regarding Sean Mac or indeed any other player....
.....If I do have an 'Agenda' it is to support Accrington Stanley as positively and actively as I can which includes all of the playing staff whoever is selected on any given match day! I would be just the same if were being relegated!
ON STANLEY ON

Chimer, Well done for praising Scott Brown. I failed to mention in him in my post but yes I agree, he had a good game.:jimbo:
Looking at the Stats; Akinfenwa was 'blown up' by the referee for five offences in one third of the match! (The time he was on the pitch!) I do believe that had he played for the whole 95 minutes and committed 15 offences then the Ref would probably still not have booked him!
The ULTRAS were AWESOME once again! Even hemmed in to the little 'Goat Pen' last night! It makes me so proud to be one member of this happy little band!:theband:
KEEP THE FAITH:alright:

The fact is we need to score goals, and the team selection should reflect this.

I would go for

Etheridge

Halliday, Davies, Hughes, Buxton

Coneeley

Mingoia, Brown, Fosu

Mccartan, Gornell

Fosu more likely to score than Sean, McCartan has looked sharp when given a chance whereas Windass was pretty ineffective in the second half, Billy has looked a bit jaded and took a whack to the head yesterday.
Time to be brave and go for it.

Choirboy, they sussed us & it's about time we came clean - we had a word with Coley & asked him to put Sean in the starting 11 just to stir things up on AccyWeb, then on the way to the game came up with our cover story about Tariq carrying a knock & circulated said rumour amongst the Stanley fans in the sheep pen (sorry on the terrace)!?
All this despite not knowing who each other is - clever stuff

Ok, Accy Mad, so there's nothing going on between you and Bob, but what are we to make of this, quoted word for word from Bob's original post?:-

What....No Windass ????:confused::confused:

For me id go with :

Etheridge

Halliday Pearson Hughes Buxton

Conneely

Mingoia Brown Windass

McCarten

Kee (if fit- if not Gornell)

Coneelly as an anchorman / playmaker, give licence to Bucko and Halliday to get forward to support attacks.

Got to be at their throats from the 1st minute and get an early goal...

Options from the bench......it all starts looking a bit more pallatable

After watching Pompey's demise at Plymouth tonight.....my mood has lifted !!:D

Get past the Dons and that wide open space of Wembley with a bowling green like pitch and the incentive of League One football........

Just requires a bit of tactical nouse from Coley.....and ELEVEN fired up Stanley boys...:o

This set up Akinfenwa to have a 'free license' to come on and throw his weight about literally! Coley alluded to this in his report too and I think he was referring to Akinfenwa pushing in the build up to their goal.
We didn't play particularly well but we did not deserve to lose the match! Destiny seems to working against us along with opponents, referees and lady luck!
Outstanding players for us were Hughes who was superbly cool and used all his experience particularly against the towering centre forward who was eventually replaced by 'The Beast'. Davies too played well as did Buxton, Pearson and Etherridge. In other words we excelled in defence and I will repeat, we did not deserve to lose! We struggled up front as we found it difficult o build from midfield but Seamus and Josh played well on the whole. Billy, Sean and Pierro got very few opportunities against an oppressive defence aided by some lenient refereeing! Half way through the second half i was calling for the ref to book one or two players, (from either side!) to sort out the pushing and shoving which for me spoiled the match.

Not much point harping on about the ref in my view, agree he let a fair bit of shoving etc go, but end of the day Wimbledon shoulda had a stonewall penalty. overall he didn't do that bad compared to some we had this season.

Firstly, the GOOD news....we WON'T be playing Portsmouth..that must be a massive incentive to our players for Wednesday night coz WE CAN BEAT PLYMOUTH!!
Second, the pitch definitely needs much watering for 2 reasons,
1. To make it more playable for our lads.
2. To slow down their big physical overweight players, (no names mentioned)
and sap their strength.
Just for a bit of fun, here are a few comments that famous people may have said to Stanley for the forthcoming match....
Charles Dickens....."It was the best of times....(3-00PM versus Stevenage....
It was the worst of times"...5-00PM
So come on you REDS for Wednesday coz we have Great Expectations of you:-)
Lord Nelson....Stanley expects every man to do his duty on Wednesday...so come on you CAN DO IT!!!!
Winston Churchill.....We shall fight them on the pitches, we shall fight them in the corners, we shall fight them in the penalty boxes, and we SHALL score more goals than them.....and then......and only then ....can we say that...
VICTORY IS OURS!!!!
John F Kennedy....Ask not what YOUR CLUB can do for YOU, but what YOU can do for YOUR CLUB!!!
As Coley said about the run in....there will be twists and turns...WELL we have been twisted by a certain bad referee, and by the crossbar 3 times...so now I feel it's OUR TURN for some GOOD FORTUNE on Wednesday night,
Like Coley says ..."If there is any justice in the world WE WILL WIN on Wednesday,....SO COME ON YOU REDS ...I for one wish you ALL THE LUCK IN THE WORLD on Wednesday!!!!!!:-)
