Womble advise

If you've not been to KM before and (a) have a terrace ticket (b) under six foot, get to the front, sightlines are crap.

Re: Womble advise

Cheers for that - I qualify on both counts (a) - way under 6 foot!! and (b) - best take a box to stand on :)

Re: Womble advise

Also if your up for a libation before the game, no decent pubs close by, I suspect our bars will be open to all (we don't bite unless your franchise fc), nearest pubs Kingston or New Malden 20+ mins walk or 5 mins on the 131 bus.

Any advice on car parking?

Re: Womble advise

Here you go :) DIRECTIONS AND CAR PARKING

From Outside London:
M25 Junction 10, take the A3 northbound into London. At the exit for New Malden/Worcester Park, turn off and take the left into Malden Road (A2043) towards Kingston. Follow this to the next roundabout. Take the first exit into Kingston Road (A2043 still) and Kingsmeadow is one mile on the left.

From Central London:
Take the A3 out of London, exiting at New Malden/Worcester Park. Cross over the A3, and take the Malden Road (A2043) towards Kingston. Follow this to the next roundabout. Take the first exit into Kingston Road (A2043 still) and Kingsmeadow is one mile on the left.

There is limited parking available at the ground and, for Saturday games, to be sure of a space you need to arrive before 1.45 pm (7pm midweek games) at the latest. Parking in adjacent streets can be tight as it is a residential area.

As per the advisory, get to the carpark by mid afternoon at the latest or you may find it closed. You will find a space in a side road eventually but remember it is the burbs and residents get seriously pi**ed off if you park over their driveway.

I always go to a new ground early. its sods law get there at the last minuit and everything goes wrong that ca go wrong. get there early and its plain sailing. if you park across someones driveway you deserve everything you get no matter where you are. someone did it with me when I liked in norfick but they wouldn,t do it again I am sure.

Nearest tube or train station to the ground?

AccyMad 11-05-2016 11:40

Re: Womble advise

Think it's Norbiton - try looking it up on Football Ground Guide, it's pretty good for info on there both for driving & going by train

Re: Womble advise

Norbiton closest (overland from Waterloo/Clapham Jn)
Football League Ground Guide - AFC Wimbledon - Cherry Red Records Stadium, Kingsmeadow

Re: Womble advise

If going straight to the ground Norbiton is a 10 minute walk, nothing on the way apart from fat boys cafe and a chippy. Kingston if you have some time to kill or fancy a libation or 3.

Re: Womble advise

Nothing but 'Fatboys Cafe'!! What more do you need? Worth the trip on its own.

Re: Womble advise

Trains run from Waterloo to Norbiton at 12 - 27 - 42 - 57 minutes past the hour taking 25 minutes also slow trains taking 43 mins at 03 and 33 past.

the 18:42 (arr Norbiton 19:07) would be the last to get you there for kick off
as it's a 19:30 k/O

trains back from Norbiton at 35 - 50 - 05 - 20 past the hour

Bus Route 131 Kingston - Tooting runs past the ground. Supposed to be every 12 minutes but gets held up by traffic

Most of the pubs near to the ground have closed down - nearest are in Kingston Town centre 20 min (or 5 ish mins on 131) away

Willoughby Arms, Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey, KT2 6LN - pub details# beerintheevening.com

The Willoughby Arms (link above) is an old school backstreet boozer selling decent ales and is about 20 minute walk to the ground.

Woodys is by the river a bit 'upmarket' and about 25 minute walk to the ground

Woody's, Kingston Upon Thames, Surrey, KT1 1HH - pub details# beerintheevening.com

nearest Tube Station is probably Richmond but is probably a nicer place for pubs - takes about 20 odd minutes from Richmond to Kingston on the 65 bus.

Quick update, the athletics centre next door have a Surrey meet on tomorrow, so parking will be even more problematic. You have been warned.
