Re: Bradford City Match Thread...........
still not recovered i feel completely tired for want of a better adjective this morning. after hughesy missed the first penalty i thought, here we go again, a repeat of the hull city penalty shoot out. no point repeating what cashy has said earlier as his comments were spot on for me. the only thing i can add is that hughesy and jonno must have had guts to take another penalty after missing one earlier. well done all the red men especially those two.

Video highlights and all the penalties:
Accrington 0-0 Bradford AET - 11-10 pens | Video | Watch TV Show | Sky Sports Includes a fabulous shot from Jordan Clark. The 'foul' by Parrish looks fairly innocuous. |
Re: Bradford City Match Thread...........
It was directly in front of us MikeA, we all thought it was warranted, but the lad had little choice.

new change in the laws. if it had been in the penalty area it would have been a yellow card for the same offence. |

Re: Bradford City Match Thread...........
Talk about nailbiting stuff, wow. How on earth we got through I will never know, but who cares. Fair play to the lads for digging in, especially the back 4 and 2 keepers.
Gutted for Parrish , thought it was a 50/50 decision, he really did have a brilliant 70 minutes, im sure he will take heart from it. Anyone know if its an automatic 3 game ban? Also thought Chapman was brilliant for the remainder of the game, great to know we have 2 good pairs of hands. Also must mention Beckles who looked a real player last night, hope he can keep it going. Never a dull moment watching Stanley, that's for sure ! |
Re: Bradford City Match Thread...........
I thought Beckles, Pearson. n Clark were stupendous last night,

It was a 50 - 50 ball and he touched the ball. The Bradford No 29 knew he wasn't going to get to it first so he.... ' Kept his feet in'... as it were, in order to get contact from Parish! The Ref was duped by his, 'Olympian Gymnastic Somersault with a full loop and one and a half twists!' If it had been on 'Match of The Day', the pundits would have been saying..." He was entitled to keep his feet in so that the keeper would bring him down". Which is one of my pet dislikes about the modern game....... In my day the forward, realising that he was not going to get the ball, would have jumped over the keeper in order to ensure that neither of them got injured! I suppose my naive, sporting attitude is just old fashioned though! The rest of the match was similar to Saturday in that we were on the defensive again for long periods. We did show some good movement breaking out occasionally but really we could have been 2 or 3 down at half time if Bradford had come out with their shooting boots on! Bradford were launching most of their attacks down their right wing and often had an overlap out wide but Pearson coped so well and he played so tight on the two Bradford lads down that side. For the goal I might also suggest that their no 29 was offside leading up to the sending off!? Chapman was much more composed than on Saturday too. He does need to take care that he doesn't bring the cross bar down though with his antics at the penalties! Beckles and Hughes continue to develop as a good pairing and Hughes is just so cool! The rest of the boys battled so well, particularly after we were reduced to ten players! They were all pretty much out on their feet at the end of the match!:jimbo::jimbo::jimbo: I reckon that ENGLAND need to watch the video so that they can learn how to take penalties.......are you listening BIG SAM? Shay McCarten's penalty was the ultimate in cool confidence! Very nerve wracking ....YES..... But highly SATISFYING....sending the 'Big Club' from Braford home with their tails between their legs.:do-one::wave::wave::wave: ON STANLEY ON:theband::wave8::drink: |
Re: Bradford City Match Thread...........
I suppose JC will have to consider an emergency keeper loan for a couple of weeks as no doubt Elliot will have to sit out the next 3 games - although seem to recall we have gambled without a bench keeper before. Would seem a shame though to jeopordise an early winning streak. Sounds like yesterday couldn't be bettered if you wanted a new team bonding exercise - bodes well, methinks.

Re: Bradford City Match Thread...........
We were in the pub pre match with 4 Bratford fans, they said they shoulda been 4 up at half time against Port Vale. so maybe they aint got shooting boots yet?:D

In my earlier comments.......
For the goal I might also suggest that their no 29 was offside leading up to the sending off!? Instead of 'goal'........read 'incident':dummy:........ My error! |
Re: Bradford City Match Thread...........
Just a late thought !.
It looks to me, following the awesome team effort displayed last night , that JC has again worked a bit of magic where finding and signing some extremely promising young footballers. Plus the occasional ' golden oldie ' is concerned, and to further strengthen the squad by bringing John O'Sullivan back into the fold wasn't a bad move either !. So whilst handing out bouquets to the players, let me on your behalf say a big 'Thank-you' To our Manager !. ON STANLEY...ON !!. |
