Fa cup 1st rd draw
Drawn Monday 7pm live on bbc2
Millwall away please, could do wi a decent pub crawl |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Matches to be played on 5 November. As well as the 24 Conference teams, there are a number of our former foes still in Saturday's 4th Qualifying Round matches:
The website for the English football association, The FA Cup and The England football team - The Emirates FA Cup | The FA Westfields away would suit me! |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Torquay Away would do nicely.............
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Gateshead away! Nice non league away trip'd be good :)
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Having had a mate, put in intensive care years ago, anywhere bar Millwall will do.

No mate was in late 60s, Clive is my barber top bloke goes in Peel Park Pub.;)we were late teens early 20s and the came at us with meat hooks, these were middle aged blokes not kids.

Nice local-ish non-league away tie would do me.
Fylde away a few years ago was one of my favourite away days. |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
If we draw Salford, at least we'll be on the telly!

Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
don't know why but when I saw the thread title the immediate thought was Forrest Green at home. If I'm right, guess I need to fear the ducking stool. On t'other hand, Chimer will tell you that this season I can't forecast what day it is !
On the Millwall issue, I have heard tales in the past of their ThugsRus brigade that search out opposition fans pre and post match. Hopefully that's in the past otherwise you may well be talking pub brawl - not crawl. |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Tranmere, Mansfield or Carlisle my bet is on.
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Confirmed as ball number 1 . :)

We've made the 1st round proper for 11 consecutive years. What a record!! ;)
A plethora of mouth watering ties available here. A new non league ground would be preferable for me. Failing that a League 1 behemoth away such as Bolton, Charlton or Sheffield. Not that it matters. We'll get Tranmere for the 1700th time since returning to the league. |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
any non league club like stevenage at home.
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
i also am partial to non-league grounds, as smobile said Fylde was a cracking afternoon out.:)

Quite a few potential banana skin games in there
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Always want a home draw, but Southport away looks tasty :D
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Any team as long as we win and eventually make the 3rd round or further to help pay back something to Mr Holt for all he has done for the club.
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
A nice easy and winnable draw for me would suit.....home or away....a bit of luck, a similarly kind draw in round 2 and get to round 3 and the chance to play another big side and some more money in the process.....:D
Not asking for much !! |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
will be interested also to see if any of our loanee players are allowed to play for us in the fa cup. it will give us some idea if they will be with us after their loan period ends in january.
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Anybody followed by anybody in round 2, then West Ham at home in round 3.

Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
I'm fearing the Daggers, as it's close enough to me to make me feel I should go, and although I like the ground, I hate the area and always get lost en route :o.
Eastleigh away would suit me nicely :D |

My dad used to take us to watch Bradford around 1971-2, so will be good to return,
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Personally think its a bad draw, good gate no doubt but very hard to progress, imho
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Brilliant! Away draw against higher league opposition with a direct link from Accy on the Trans Pennine express! What more do you want.
Rather this than the potential banana skin of a non-league outfit. We always play better against better opposition. Get the banners out! |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
£14.70 off peak return - not bad at all, looking forward to a good day out :)

Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Cheaper for an old duffer like me, as I have a railcard. However, surely this will be an odds on 10 coach certainty. In which case, b****r the train!
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
I think the law of probabilities makes it a very good draw.
The chances of getting to round 3 are 1/4. Therefore take the biggish game now. There's still a chance of progressing. Bratfurt average attendance is 17,500. What's the gate likely to be for this un? |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Wouldn't mind betting its average at least.? not often they get chance to see a good side.
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Is there no Lady Stiffupperlip with which to take advantage of the "Together Forever" card and a 33% discount? The coach may have a certain appeal but as a fellow Lord then surely nothing beats sitting in first class and waving ones handkerchief at the peasant children that come out out the sleepy pennine villages and sit on the railway fences looking for their father to return?
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
I suspect Stanley's kit will soon need to be trimmed with ermine! ;)

Lady Cicely & I both benefit from Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway discount cards reserved for the aristocracy & certain shareholders. Perhaps you would care to join us in our private Pullman car. However, you & Lady D must bring your own butler as we had to let our railway carriage staff go due to outstanding tax demands at Rusting Manor. Yours truly, Sir Rodney Stiff-Upperlip KFC Ps. Depending on Bradshaws timetable, we may need to ask Blenkinsop to dust the Armstrong Siddeley down. |

a lot less than that i,m afraid as most of em have season tickets due to the price and the yorkies will have to pay extra for the game which won,t go down with the generous nature. |

Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Following Lord Stiffupperlip's lurkdom on the Blackpool forum I headed straight for "Bantam Banter" (or whatever amusing name their forum is) after the draw was made but found it was only for those who could choose their fave Bradford player and what year they won the Cup.
Clearly a bit of subterfuge was required, so I went for David Weatherall and 1911, and I duly slipped in the side door unnoticed. It's the "go to" place for Milk puns I can tell you that. I don't think they have left any dairy related terms unused in their hours of side splitting amusement since the draw was made. Anyway, they seem quite pleased with the draw - mainly a chance for revenge. |

Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Yorkshire? Illiterate? Tight?
When my parents took the disastrous decision to cart me away from the paradise that is Accrington that meant living about 4 miles from Bradford City centre for a decade. Educated and influenced by Yorkshire people I was. I easily learnt their ways - how to be stingy and mean and how to be stubborn and opinionated. Somehow, I learnt to read and write - not sure how as the book we had to study for English O'Level was Kes (Kestrel for a Knave) which is just a couple hundred pages of Barnsley slang. My sporting education started in Bradford too. To prepare me for going to watch Super Leeds I was taken to Valley Parade for a few months to endure some dour kick and rush rubbish. When I reached the point where I could take no more, the wonders of Elland Road were mine. Whilst I never felt compelled to return I do have some fondness for Bradford .... not least because one saturday I was playing golf on the hills overlooking the city when those infamous and horrible plumes of smoke started to rise into the air. So, whilst they are an odd lot across there, whilst Valley Parade almost put me off the beautiful game. I really can't wait for this match. |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
I think your parents must have taken you to Yorkshire on purpose to see whether you would sink, or swim.
It must have worked because you overcame hardship to take the Lordship of Didsbury! |
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
The link following will (I hope) take you to the official Bantams 'Visitor's Guide', which you can also download as a PDF.
It gives excellent advice on how to get to the ground by road or rail etc., together with local bus information. Well worth a visit. https://issuu.com/bradfordcityafc/do...tors_handboo/1 |

Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Saw something on the Fishy site today, but only about prices.
Guess it depends when Bradford get the tickets printed. |

Accymad - it won't be a walk back to the station, it will be a raucous celebratory sing song.
|
Re: Fa cup 1st rd draw
Gentlemen,
According to local bus information, there are several routes serving Bradford Interchange station with the Coral Windows Stadium, which is only 1.1 mile away. The bus takes only 3 minutes + a 5 minute walk. Can't imagine a taxi will cost much, especially if shared. Services 626, 662 & 737 go past the ground but full details are shown on the official Bradford FC visitors guide - see my earlier thread. Tally-Ho! |

Cheers MH, might be uphill on the way to the ground but at least it'll be downhill going back :) - got mixed up about it being dark going back as was thinking clocks would've changed but as that doesn't happen till Saturday night it should be ok
Coach will get there around 12 & for me, that's a tad too long to wander round or spend the time in the pub |
