Have just read on skysports Harvey Rodgers was all set to sign for Luton for rest of season, obviously we were more appealing.:D also was competition from Cambridge United.

He'd probably rather stay up north - well, who wouldn't?! :)

Show some respect and get behind the club, such horrible bitter outdated remarks because someone has a different belief to you are not welcome at Accrington Stanley, especially to a new young player who needs all the support possible. The lad is internet savvy, he may well read this forum. Do you think your spiteful childish comments may provide him with any more encouragement or motivation to wear the Stanley shirt? |
Re: January window
you,re right dav there,s banter and there,s banter.
|
Re: January window
For once I agree with Dav007 - there's a fine line between banter & that sort of comment
|
Re: January window
I just don't see how it helps anyone ?
|
Re: January window
Calm down, if the lad's a practicing Christian and has been around football for ten years, I'm sure he's heard and read worse and can take such comments in his stride.
Is it any better to assume 'victimhood' on someone else's behalf when that person may be perfectly strong enough in their beliefs to let others' comments wash over them? |
Re: January window
True Exile, I remember David Brown was very religious & he got some (mainly good natured) stick for it but at least he'd had time to settle in the team before he experienced it

A very innocuous comment in my opinion.

people are free and should be free to be questioned and criticised for any belief.
but attacking a new lads belief with lazy jibes when he hasn't been at the club for 5 minutes on a football forum which is all about accrington stanley is counter productive and completely unnecessary i couldn't care less what someones beliefs were, all i want is any individual in a stanley shirt to put in 100% and produce the goods. |

Both you and I have over the years produced a post or two, which contained thoughts and sentiments which were meant to be ever so succinct and clever, but which turned out to be nothing but dross in the end. The outcome being that with some forethought we wouldn't have made them in the first place I'm certain that Lord D in no way intended to attack our new striker's Christian beliefs, just as he would not say anything to offend mine !. We all have the welfare, and spiritual well-being of our team at heart, and Lord D is so obviously included in this number. Time to move on Dav ?... Happy New Year incidentally ! KTF. |

Re: January window
Just watching the Doncaster Portsmouth game, noticed Tom Davies and Adam Buxton arnt even in the squad, Anyone know if they're injured?
Also Ross Etheridge has been out on loan from Doncaster so mustn't be fancied! |
Re: January window

Re: January window
Doubt I'd bother with Davies (although he's a good un). Etheridge would be an improvement on what we have. Buxton could be a huge plus - more attacking support down either wing would be super, great, fantastic. Switch the Don to Right back.
|
Re: January window
Etheridge came on as a sub for Donny on Thursday night so must be back with them.

We still need some additions to the squad but maybe some should go as well. |

I liked Buxton when he was here but given the manner in which he left I don't think I'd want him back tbh

Re: January window
Just that he was here for pre-season training & games, was even on the team photo - he tweeted that he was staying & about to re-sign then at very last minute cleared off to Portsmouth to play for Cook & co - it just left a sour taste tbh
|
Re: January window
Maybe it had something to do with a Bucko training throughout pre-season, smiling broadly in the team's official photo, and then disappearing just before the season kicked off. I liked him too but his fitness was (is?) a liability for a team with limited finances.

There is interest in our players this transfer window, the days when .@ASFCofficial had to accept any offer are over. 1/2 But I won't stand in the way of any .@ASFCofficial lads career progression as long as the interested party is sensible. #justsaying 2/2 |

Re: January window
If you recall Beckles/The Don's agent told me there was strong Championship interest in the pair of them. QPR were after the Don, but I think their manager got sacked after that (the Luton away match). The Don being injured, and indifferent form on his return may have cooled interest.
If I was a betting man I'd say Matty will be courted by Div 1 or Champs teams also? Sean's goal against Luton though. Reckon he's destined for a top European side. |

I can't foresee anyone leaving over the jan window, come the summer I think only Brown, Gornell, McCarten, Chapman will be left under contract until 2018, so I would expect some exits then

Every player in the WORLD is for sale at the right place.
What is nice to see however, is that we won't be taking peanuts for players like in the past. Still winds me up how the likes of Tom Aldred where sold for next to nothing. |

Re: January window
I have noticed a number of loan player who have gone from Here and done very well away from here. Is there something wrong with our training? Maybe we have been stuck in our ways. I will be interested to see if those who have left do better away from us and will confirm a few thoughts I have.
|
Re: January window
Spot on ChrisR, Couldn't have said it better myself...
Anybody able to tell me how Carl Ikeme, Rob Elliot, Darren Randolph, Anthony Gerrard, Kevin Long, Marcus Bettinelli have done since leaving Stanley on loan? All fallen by the wayside I'm guessing? |
Re: January window
If they do better then that says to me, sod all much wrong with our training, we have made em better?
|
Re: January window
If it's a young loanee you'd expect them to do better (improving with age and experience), if it's an older player then the same or worse.
If our training methods are poor then you'd expect ALL players (not just loanees) to do better. You'd also expect all players to do worse here than the clubs from which they came from. Etc. |

Re: January window
I’ve already spoken to Blackburn about John. It’s just a little bit complicated at the moment, with John’s contract running out at the end of the season. We have got a deal in place to extend his loan until the end of the season but that will depend on what happens in the next 48 hours with regards his future at Blackburn.”

Re: January window
Don't think GTF could ever be described as speedy Gonzales, even in his heyday with Blackpool. He was just a big strong forward thought good enough to play in the Premiership.
Also mystified that, after scoring on his debut, he was literally side-lined. I sometimes wonder whether if we got Diego Costa on loan, he'd get more than ten minutes on the field, and then only when we're 1-0 down. |

if you don,t try someone you,ll never know what if anything they can bring to the table. eagles and garry t f should have had a run in the side before they were given a contract. it would have saved some money if they didn,t come up to scratch and not having em hanging around here just to fill up a bench.

Re: January window
I heard that Coley and GTF had a falling out. IF so, then no wonder he didn't get a look in. Regardless of who he is (or was) he has no right to fall out with the Gaffer.
Dunno about Eagles but he didnt look that good on his sporadic forays into the side. He was also unavailable for a while at his own request apparently - would you drop another player to play someone who turns up when he fancies a game? As for him having three assists for Port Vale in a 4-0 win ... that was a behind closed doors friendly wasn't it? Hardly one for his CV |
Re: January window
Goalkeeper position - hopefully filled now, let's hope we can keep this one in one piece.
Defence - sorted. Probably short of a couple of full backs but first XI defence is a strong point. Midfield - 5 please Striker - Keep Kee and Edwards, ship the rest out. |
