Analysis of Stanley's 14 goal efforts last night confirms Baron Bishop (Gerrit?) contribution to our attack was a paltry 'off target' 1.
Before anyone jumps in with the excuse that he performs a similar role to our late King Billy, holding up play, laying on chances for others etc., of the other 13 attempts, his assists numbered '0'.
Comparisons with Billy Kee are not only misguided but insulting. Yes, Billy did all of the above, but Kee was also an incomparable one-man goal machine.
JC's oft trumpeted opinion that Bishop has all the attributes worthy of the Championship look more like a ludicrous fantasy with every game played.

Playing with one experienced striker on his own up front doesn't help either.

no trafford replacement and no charles one either that was anywhere near his standard. this season is really over but the summer transfers will be very interesting indeed.

Don't know current contract scenario especially among the under 23,s Matt Butcher is out of contract I think and can see him returning south if the Portsmouth interest is real. Couple of experienced players in McConville and Conneely who will probably be still around, but seriously need more defenders and strikers plus a experienced keeper far too many midfielders in an unbalanced squad IMHO.

Agree with most of the above, but when you look back to the early part of the season when we were riding high, we had a powerful & creative midfield in Butcher, Pritchard & Pell, all of whom have been missing for long periods since.
They not only provided the ammunition for Bishop & Charles but had the intelligence to stop opponents attacks.
It would be a shame to lose any of them next season.
We're still creating opportunities but need 2 proven strikers & an experienced keeper to improve matters.

My main worry is that coley might not be able to find these diamonds he has unearthed in the past. Just hope i,ll be wrong.
