The Wars of the Roses Thread

In under 24 hrs Stanley will face one of the biggest games since their reformation.
The match v Premiership Leeds Utd will be broadcast live from 12.15pm by the BBC.
Of course no one really expects us to win, but which Stanley will turn up?
If it's the same lacklustre display that saw us fail to score from open play for over 2 hours against non-league opposition, we're in for a hiding.
Surely, if any game demanded courage from our manager this is it.
Will he play it safe as usual, or try a bold new approach.
Personaly, I'd like to see either Adedoyin or Sisay up front with Pressley from the start.
They may not be Wilfred Zaha, but they're both big enough to offer a threat to the Leeds defence.
So come on Mr Coleman, this is the opportunity you've waited for, a chance to prove your management skills in front of a big audience.
Cut out the hoof ball & get back to playing football
Can the whippet beat the Greyhound? Can David beat Goliath?
For all Stanley fans, believing the impossible is a way of life.

wont make no difference if he reads this at all.doubt if he will even play a striker unless presleys fit.

Adeoyin still on the injured list Sisse couldn't even make the bench with nine subs against Borehamwood the other night Pressley will start if he,s deemed fully recovered from his bruising, if he does would like young Adekoya given a go next to him but unfortunately can't see it happening.

On the positive side ...
I was told that ,allegedly, following Tuesday nights game a forlorn looking Jesse Marsch was seen walking as if in shock down Whalley Road. When questioned by a passer by worried by this sad sight he was finally well enough to utter the words ( and I quote ) " What can one possibly do to overcome tactics so bizarrely different to anything I've ever witnessed in my years in football ?... I am bewildered and baffled by Coleman's futuristic thinking..we are beaten ! ! ".
He was later joined by a French member of his Coaching Team who led him away somewhat unsteadily murmuring " Merde.. Merde.. Merde !" incessantly.
Now then folks, if this report is accurate, and it might well be. Then the Reds ( with or without strikers Cashy !).. have little to fear from a team without a plan !..
( Time for my medication is nigh... ON STANLEY.. ON !!.)

Sadly Koedy Adeoyin and Touray Sisay are injured

On a positive note Aaron P says the new boots he had delivered today will be used tomorrow :)

You can get injured in training Crown Grounder :)

Also, we seem to have a lot of injuries that seem to linger........

Just a few thought :)

He picked up some serious splinter wounds in his rear end that last appearance on the bench aggravated by running up and down the touchline 🤔

Val while I agree what you are saying makes perfect sense........he's been injured since he arrived at the club we are now 6 months on. He hasn't had any operations so why isn't he now fit to play? Don't our players have medical examinations before they are signed onto the payroll. If not we are a very stupid club and very unprofessional. I can't believe Andy Holt would allow player signings without proper due diligence and medical checks.

Just my opinion, but I would not start with Woods, or Adekoya - too young and do not have enough experience.

Pressley must start, with Whalley and Tommy either side of him :)

Harvey, Doug and Ryan at the back - as Coley loves 3 at the back......

Sean, Ethan, Ros and Liam in midfield :)

With what we have available, that is my XI - 3-4-3 :)

Woods and Adekoya will be useful from the bench :)

Not long now :)

Thought we did quite well overall. First 20 was excellent, and who knows what would have happened if Harvey had hit the target from five yards. Savin of course really good.
I like Ethan, if not always his defending.

But this is a team with very little punch. I think a case could be made for a proper forward alongside Pressley leaving Sean Whalley to do what he does best, play wide.

Woods and Adekoya could do that job, but I would prefer to see an experienced striker brought in :)

In young Adekoya we have a gem on our hands he has a natural striker,s instincts something you can't teach play him he could save the club a fortune and if he progress,s like I think he will make us one as well.

can someone tell me WHY our manager does NOT put subs on until after the last few mins of ANY game.?unless a lad gets injured? its completely beyond my comprension the lads played very well today against a premiership side,i fail to see what their is to lose.

Result apart i really enjoyed todays game and have no complaints about our performance. We were the better team upto their first goal and what a goal it was. I just hope we can push on with the same performances in the league so we can get away from the dreaded relegation zone.

Re: The Wars of the Roses Thread

Well it was a grand day out at The Wham Stadium today.
A magnificent RED DISPLAY as the players came out with the big RED SURFER and lots of Stanley flags flying high.
Leeds eventually showed their class with two goals in two minutes but for sixty odd minutes Stanley were deservedly still in with a shout!
Stanley started well in the first twenty minutes and I think we surprised Leeds with our quality and intensity. It was a truly quality strike for the first Leeds goal. Stanley stuck the task well for the rest of the half with Toby Savin making a world class finger tip save to keep the score line at 1-0 at half time.
We continued to hang into the match but two more quality strikes saw us go three down.
It was good to see all our subs being given the chance to pit themselves against Premier opposition and two first touches produced the goal that Stanley deserved. New loanee Quirk got down the right and crossed for Leslie Adekoya to finish superbly to send the Stanley Faithful into RAPTURES!❤️
The Clayton End were BRILLIANT and both sets of fans behaved well and sang and cheered their respective teams.
The Stanley players should take a lot out of this performance for the forth coming battles in League One. Renewed confidence and belief should really help us in the latter stages of the season.
SO PROUD OF ALL AT STANLEY TODAY.:jimbo:

Great day out at The Wham, and a good effort by Stanley and their fans.
I just hope, after the impact both Adekoya and Woods made, Coley will now have a bit more faith in his younger strikers in the continued absence to injury of the more ‘experienced’ options.
The subs were far too late to have any effect on this result but both these lads showed what a bit of pace and effort can do.
I can’t help wondering just how different things might have been these last few months, where Stanley, clearly struggling for goals, filled the pitch with midfielders, if these lads had been given more than a few minutes and told to get themselves in the opponent’s box.

Your not on your own exile will be interesting to see how the team selection,s pan out over the coming crucial week,s , Conneely said today he,s hopefully back in a couple of weeks training hopefully some new signings we need players who,s instincts are to get in the box and finish even today against a premiership side that was the main difference to me.

I think Adekoya has earned himself more minutes in the games up to the end of the season. But won't be a regular starter. I hope we tie him into a longer contract. Really impressed with him. I'm sure the scouts will be after him now he's showing how good he is.

We desperately need Conneely and Clark back......assuming Notts and Pressley are fully fit in the next two weeks.
