No, he’s still in cloud cuckoo land after today’s events.
Roughly 1200 Stanley fans there today. One thing you could put your house on is that, if it was Liverpool at Anfield, there would suddenly be 10,000 Stanley “fans” demanding cheap tickets. |

Do we want a “prestige” opponent or someone we might beat on a good day? Man City fit both options at the moment I suppose!

I was telling my golf buddy yesterday how the draw for FA Cup works out from a Stanley perspective, and I said the ideal draw for us would be MU, MC or Liverpool away. BINGO.

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3
I may be wrong but, just checking on the Liverpool website and it says that "away fans are normally located in the lower tier of the Anfield Road Stand with a guide allocation of 2,000 seats available". The "guide price for cup games against League 2 opposition" in that stand varies as follows" for the 24/25 season:
Adults £12 to £20 (depending on section in stand - applies to all prices for adults and below) Over 65 £12 to £15 Young adult £7.50 to £12 Junior £4 Honestly can't believe the prices are so low. Still only guide prices, we wait for the official announcement.........would think 2,000 will easily be enough for us away..... |
Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3
Great to read about the excitement the draw has rightly produced - really pleased that you all get a FANtastic away day. Expect that those that apparently never walk alone will probably field bench + fringe players, but they are no doubt international standard. Pleased for Andy Holt that club finances will get a shot in the arm and perhaps John, Ged & Co might get the chance of useful networking with next season's loan crop in mind. And if Liverpool should be fortunate to have the game wrapped up with 20 to go, then I hope our bench is fully utilised. Think what a boost the would give our younger players to have an Anfield appearance on their CVs. Particularly the young man whose penalty contributed to making the ocassion possible. For the Clayton End choirmaster, how about a new serenade along the lines " if ya drink yer milk you can play for Stanley". Hope the 'missing' faithful will return to the teraces to at least get enough vouchers for an Anfield ticket. OK, this owd south coast resident Accy lad will shut up now - where's mi tablets ? - think I've got a touch o'er excited !

My mum went to Anfield when Stanley played Liverpool in the cup in 1956, she remembers the train there being jam packed with Accrington fans.
I'm so excited at the prospect of following in her footsteps for this game - roll on January |

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3
In the league clubs get just less than half of the Anfield Rd End with minimum segregation i guess to a certain extent they could move the netting one way or the other to arrive at a figure that will be right for both clubs.
I went there with Carlisle before the re development and we had all of the lower tier which was just over 7.5k But and i stand to be corrected here if it doesnt apply in the FA cup but Liverpool have a couple of things in place that ensures their cup games are virtual sell outs [ for people on the season ticket waiting list buying cup tickets moves you up the list and i.m pretty sure for season ticket holders unless you contact them to say otherwise your cup ticket is simply added to your ticket account and charged for] I would be pretty sure Stanley will get a figure that they will have a chance of selling out but one that will generate interest in the games up till then to be sure of getting a ticket. |

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3
There was a paper produced in Accrington in the 50s called Welfare. I suspect it was produced collectively by the main trade unions in the town. It contained some sports pages at the back, and the match report for the Liverpool FA Cup tie saw it as a missed opportunity for Stanley. The Reds were flying high in the Third Division (North) and Liverpool were mid-table in the Second Division. Somewhat different context this time!
|
Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3
This draw brings memories from 1956 when Accrington lost 2 – 0 to Liverpool in the FA. Cup.
As a 13-year-old boy I drove with my dad in the car to Liverpool. The funny part was that there was heavy fog all the way up to a couple of miles before Liverpool. Most of the time my dad was saying “with this fog the match will never go on,” but I was saying “come on dad, it my lift just further on.” Sure enough it did lift, so we got to the match on time, only to see Stanley losing the game by 2 goals in quick succession from the great Billy Liddell. After the match, we heard however, that one coach from Accrington went to the wrong stadium! As Everton was playing the same day and same time, the supporters went to see the wrong match! Anyone else with memories of this day? Cheers Philip Kenyon Late Belfield Road Accrington |

Brilliant draw for you and us! Does anyone fancy a wager who will concede the most goals. You at Liverpool or us at Chelsea?:) Anyway mission accomplished for both clubs with a massive boost to the coffers. See you in the fourth round maybe? |

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3

It isn't. Crown Grounder noticed the various categories, but they do have five sets of FA Cup home prices, for each division and non-league, something I have never seen any other club do. The transparency us very welcome, and the cheap prices (although an owner may not think so). They will sell from the corner flag towards to the goal, initially getting AL9, AL8 and AL7. Then A6 and A5 if sales go very well. Therefore when then go on sale the majority will be £19 and then the £17 corner seats facing the side of the Main Stand which don't look great. We may get a small amount of £12 tickets, but these are just for the first few rows in the middle blocks. If we do sell over around 2.5k then those left will be mainly £20 with a few £12s at the front. The £18 tickets are upper tier only so we won't get them. Taking into account concessions, VAT, and expenses netted off gate receipts and TV money we should clear £500k. |
Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3
Prices announced now. : Adult £20, over 65's. £15, Young adult (17 - 21) £10. Junior (under 17's) £5 (with a full paying adult

Re: F.A. Cup - Rd 3
If I'm reading the latest info on Fishy correctly, there is not going to be any open sale of tickets at any stage? That's rather disappointing for us exiles - and are they really expecting to sell 4700 tickets to people who qualify under one or other of the various categories? Obviously I am perfectly happy that all those people identified should have priority over me as a semi-detached fan - but I would have thought it would have been reasonable to put any unsold tickets on open sale from say Christmas Eve onwards. Can anyone offer me any hope that they might eventually do this?

Morning
The terms & conditions that ASFC are having to use are being enforced on us by LFC. General sale of any LFC tickets is not permitted otherwise there would be 1,000's of LFC day trippers in the away allocation. I'll send some PM's later today |
