Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

What was that all about last night?

Miserable night weather wise turned into a miserable evening on & off the pitch!
Subdued atmosphere on the Clayton End, disappointing crowd, terrible performance.... I thought a few weren't UP FOR IT which is shocking when there is so much to play for
Lets hope JC & JB get em sorted as there are some big games coming up!

Luckily, Craney rescued a point & we are still second. If we keep picking up points then we will be in the shake up!

Bring em on!

Brilliant run of results against the best of the conference.... and the crowd drops....

Someone explain it to me as well...

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

Champions League on Terraestrial TV & footie fans from Accy now becoming TV Arsenal fans....

Sat there Arsenal shirt, arsenal mug, arsenal hat TV on - beer in hand in bloody Accrington

It'll get worse before it gets better I think, SKY TV will kill / seriously harm the lower leagues. Everybody seems to be a Premier League (Man Utd , Arsenal, Chelski fan (were where you when they where ****!))

Armchair fans ..... get down to the Crown!!!!!

Were you disappointed with the atmosphere generated by the crowd or with the numbers that came through the gates?

KIPAX 23-02-2005 18:05

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

Numbers.. As there where quite a few from Halifax (Although the figure 600 seems to have been plucked from a hat) it means there wasn't many from Accrington

To be honest if we'd of had a large home following yesterday night the floating fans may have been put off for a long time. It was a pretty grim performance when compared to Saturday. However Saturday was the best ever game at the Crown Ground. Like I said earlier 'theres only two Accy Stanleys

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

willie, you're dead right on all accounts.
1 the match was terrible but less said the better.
2 the crowd atmosphere was bad but what do we expect with a team performance like that.
3 sky and premier league does knacker thing up for the lower leagues, and as you know we are both rovers converts so we know both sides of the coin.
jase now give me some karma for bigging you up.

Quite right!
I brought a friend on Saturday, who, come 5pm, couldn't wait for the next game!
Fortunately, as it turned out, he couldn't make it for Tuesday.... so, still chance of another 'convert'....

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

Disappointing performance, but remember, a team can only play as well as the opposition lets them. Halifax played well, closed us down and passed the ball well. We seemed to go back to playing the long ball, but a point is a point and we are still in second place.

Disappointing attendance - cold night (no roof for protection), football on television.

Disappointing atmosphere - give us a roof and you will hear the noise.

All in all over the last three games, Exeter, Barnet and Halifax we have got seven points, I don't think the most optimistic fan would have expected that. We must be happy with seven points from nine. Let's just hope that we don't slip up against Forest Green.

I'm more than happy :):)

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

I wouldn't have bet a pair of sweaty socks on us getting 7 points out of those three games...

Also we all agree that we didn't deserve anyhting from the game but got a point...

Getting points we dont deserve.. turning on the style against higher opposition.... other results going for us (even york won at exeter for us) are these all signs of a team destined for the playoffs........ I think so :)

Also, been to many Blackpool games & many Rovers games but used to go in the Blackburn End with a Red & White Aberdeen hat on! As a 10 year old though used to get into Stanley free at half time, unfortunately as a kid Stanley were a figure of fun & nobody admitted to being a Stanley fan. Luckily now, it seems everybody at Liams school is a fan of ASFC

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

Jeff I agree with you TOTALLY that a team can only play as well as the other team allow them. Yes at times we looked a bit slow, or is that them being too fast ?? Halifax showed that they had paid attention to Barnet game. No doubt having a scout at that game, and I am sure he will have reported back with something like " You give those lot any space and they will paste us!!" And they did not give us any space at all to play. And well done to them for being SO successful at that tactic.
It was the same lads as saturday against a team that showed us a lot of respect, and pressured our lads into mistakes and took the edge off there flare. But despite that if Rory's goal mouth miss had just been touched in we would have Taken 3 point's:)
I don't thing we were bad just against a very determined and aggresive team.

smudgie 24-02-2005 12:36

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

considerin how miserable a nite it was and the champions league on tv, the attendance was not 2 bad!

addmittingly tho the cover needs to go on, then the atmosphere would improve tenfold!

Willie Miller 24-02-2005 15:37

Re: Halifax game a Shocker!!!!

Having had time to digest the gane & reflect.....

Stanley were awful & halifax arguably the best we've seen them play, but how many clear cut chances were created by the Gaymen. At best a few (2 or 3) which is testament to our back line. Also, how many of those were brought about by slight mistakes (Rocky missing a header & Cav's clearance allowed both Sugden chances!)

Positives : Mike Flynns best game in a red shirt, now Ultras we need a song!
Another goal for Craney
Unbeaten for 6 games
4 points off Halifax
10 points from last twelve
Bridge & the Vics between us & two finals
FGreen next League game
All to play for
Matty O'Neill still to come
Eric Whalley fit & well!

Onwrads & Upwards

We did play poorly and there do seem to be two Stanley teams but Halifax got what they deserved (only one point) for their blatant, boring, insufferable time wasting tactics.

How about this, its ok for the first idea........

Oh Mike Flynn is magic

Yes & the officials helped, remember the off sider decision that took 5 mins to sort out, & when the ref rolled it back 2 inches everything was ok

Hope we stuff em in the play offs!
