Absolute support

There have been postings knocking players, management etcetera (not least my own) during the course of the season as is to be expected on a forum but, given the position of the team and the prize to possibly be won, I think anything of the sort now would be inappropriate. The team and management deserve every true fan's absolute support and commitment. I hereby pledge mine and thank all those in charge for giving us something to hope and play for and a football team to be truly proud of...On, Stanley, On!

Those of us unable to get there will no doubt have everything crossed! And whilst not wishing to be critical of the powers that be;I think that driving the team all that way on the day is bl**dy stupid!

I'm a Claret but my second team is Fleetwood town,I go down to Highbury(the real one!)when I get the chance, they are top of the north west counties league div 1,we get about 200 fans on,they wer'nt alowed to gain promotion last season because of the ground, but last week they had a perliminary inspection and the ground should pass this time round,so good luck to them in the last few games!!

Re: Absolute support

Qualtrough ,

Thank you for your rallying call , which is obviously from the heart.

At the end of every season - if the Club's been in with a shout - we've had a similar collective sentiment ; sometimes exhorting the Stanley players to give their all for the play-offs, sometimes for promotion.

Isn't it true , though , that the first match of the season is as important as the last ? Those three points which we may or may not get from each of our opening few home matches are as vital as the dramatic grabbed-it-at-the-death away victory which I hope (and believe) will come our way tomorrow ?

Anyway, I'm in bed poorly (I sympathise, zayno 14) so I'll wish everyone a safe and successful journey.

Give my best wishes to the new "Wickford Bar, Essex" branch of the Supporters' Club who should be there in force !

Enjoy the game.
