Cook interview on Radio Lancs

as Pendle Red mentioned on another thread there were some interesting points raised in The Chefs radio interview here

He wants to play open and attractive football and part of that is dependent on having a pitch like a carpet. Pointing more towards an artificial surface? probably not, he's not in favour of them and thinks there is no reason why a pitch should deteriorate with under 30 games a year played on it. Produce a proper pitch and we can play proper football and Premier clubs will lend us better players - he then said that it was "in the pipeline"

Dean Winnard may be going under the knife. They could ask him to play on and he is the type of player that would, however Cook is looking longer term and wants him fixed and right. Good attitude, I hope Deano is under contract though as I'd hate to be paying him for the next few weeks without getting a game off him and then Coley steals him in May. Get the contract offer in now please IK.

We will be looking to develop more young players. We've had a decent production line over the last few years but its very important to a club like us to be able to bring this type of player through.

He wants to be positive about what we CAN do rather than us feeling sorry for ourselves about what we can't do. We can't go out and big wages for marquee signings but we can bring talent through etc

The fans are massive particularly for a club like us and we have to bring the feelgood factor back.

We need to improve the infrastructure of the club so that we can operate from a firm base.

On that last point it makes me wonder what has been discussed between manager and club from the interview process onwards. Some managers (and I think Cook would be in this category) wouldn't take a job where the things aren't right or can/will be put into place. How much infuence or input would our manager have into the infrastructure being built? What has been promised and what is on the wish list?

Interesting times perhaps?

I think he comes across really well. My worry with this appointment was always that he might view us as a shop window job. I can't envisage him being around for a Coley length of time but I do wonder what timescale he has? The infrastructure isn't in place and can't be built in a fortnight, will he still be here if and when it is? Does he want to see a job through? I always felt that Coley saw us as an unfinished job right through the club and perhaps left because he couldn't see it happening. Time will tell I suppose

Re: Cook interview on Radio Lancs

I personally think its very interesting times,n agree cooky comes across very well, Doubt if any manager in the football league will be at any club as long as coley, excluding the 2 that have, Thing is though he obviously has to do the business, I'm already looking forward to next season n this uns got a bit to go yet, I reckon if we start well next term, extending the contract is a must.

Re: Cook interview on Radio Lancs

Should find more out about Deans injuries this afternoon.
He is seeing the specialist, who will advise him after viewing all the mri scans.
Its both Ankles/tendons,so it should become more clear.
To say hes being playing in pain, would be an understatement, but then again, after saturdays attempted clearance,he could play with plaster casts on and do a better job
