Gary Roberts and Yeovil?

Hi guys

Firstly congratulations on your promotion, bet you're all desperate for the new season?

I just wondered how likely it is that Gary Roberts would actually be allowed to leave Accy? Also how good is and would he be capable of League One footy (and even Championshiop, although probably not with us!!)?

Have to say that Anthony Barry looks class so when ever we get linked with an Accy player I get excited!!

Re: Gary Roberts and Yeovil?

How much do you reckon? I would've thought 50k would've been reasonable?

And the rest! Put it this way, apparently when our chairman received the £20,000 bid he faxed Yeovil back asking where the other 0 was and told them unless it was a six figure sum they didn't need to bother.

coleman always says he wouldnt stand in the way of any player wanting to progress through the leagues, so suppose its all dependent on whether gary would want to leave

Re: Gary Roberts and Yeovil?

Not being funny but I don't think you'll see meny players going from league two for a million let alone two! I think most league one and two clubs would jump at the chance of 500k let alone a million. If we had a player worth that much i'd hope the board would cash in on him!!

When i said "not with us" I meant I doubt we'll ever reach the Championship but wondered whether he could?

You offered £20K, our chairman asked where the other 0 was, this would make it £200K, not two million. A six figure sum is £100,000, one million (£1,000,000) is a seven figure sum.

Re: Gary Roberts and Yeovil?

Add on a zero to the offer and you get £200,000 not £2 million.

BTW John Coleman also said that he was not too impressed by the way Yeovil Town lured Anthony Barry away when we were in the midst of the run-in to such an important league title.

It would also depend on whether the deal was in the best interests of Stanley.

Yes, he is that good - try & watch when we're on sky against Notts Forrest on 21st August, that's the sort of game when he's usually at his best - but you're still not havin im

Re: Gary Roberts and Yeovil?

20K offer? That is an insult... I think it would take a 250K offer for the club to even consider letting him go...

They should be penalised for unprofessional soliciting. I think Eric’s tongue in Cheek reply demonstrates the mark of the man. He should have told them to **** ***.
