Smile Gillingham game

Fair result over the 90+ minutes.

Great goal from Tyler, very poor goal to concede

Where were Shaun Whalley, Benn Ward and Dan Martin??

Crowd were great.

Pitch is fantastic.

All 3, plus Connor O'Brien suffering from little niggles according to John in his post match interview

Re: Gillingham game

one sided referee Tyler playing down the right wing was consistently fouled but ref & liner must of been watching the grass growing as know fouls were given

Re: Gillingham game

If the ref had blown for every push, shove, hold, and barge from Gillingham he’d have needed a new pea by half time.
Sooner or later a prayer is going to get seriously injured being pushed off the pitch onto the plastic along the sidelines.

Re: Gillingham game

IMHO. The problem with the referee v Gillingham was the inconsistency which he applied to challenges where he had to judge which were foul play or just part of the ‘physicality’ of the game. The Gills players did play in quite a spoiling manner and this made it difficult for the referee and for Stanley to overcome.
It took that excellent defence splitting pass from Liam Coyle and the powerful run of Tyler Walton to break the pattern. Tyler finished the move superbly to score a goal that deserved to win the match. However, we creaked under the strain from Gills excellent corner kick to make it 1-1.
I thought that there was a lot to be pleased about in the way Stanley performed and we have nothing to fear if the Gills performance is representative of the teams fancied for promotion.

What about Sass as well.

Understand Connor's injury is more serious than a niggle.

Re: Gillingham game

Can we really expect anything else from visiting teams?
Their entire game plan when not in possession is to prevent the home side from playing an effective game.
Most teams are adept at the dark arts when playing away in the hope of at least one point.
The ref did award 15 fouls to Stanley, including 2 yellows. That's a foul every 6 minutes!
You could almost regard it as a compliment that teams consider an away game against Stanley as a real challenge.
Regrettably, it's the teams that resort to 'bully-boy' tactics when away from home that usually end the season near the top.
