Halford

Taken from the altrincham website (if it is old news i apologise)

One player who looks set to go out on loan is Steve Halford. Clubs including UniBond Premier side Radcliffe Borough and Nationwide North Stalybridge Celtic have enquired about taking the central defender on a temporary basis. And Coleman is keen to comply in order to get Halford match fit after recovering from a broken leg".

Re: Halford

on our website that he has chosen us, i am very happy that he has, and with his addition he can booster our challenge for promotion to the Conf North. He's a local lad and all Boro fans are happy with his signing and have said that how many times he will get sent off in his time here

UP THE BORO !!!!!!!!!!

Re: Halford

I've just had a look at Boro's site. The piece about Hacker is at http://rbfc.co.uk/phpnuke7/html/modu...rticle&sid=195. It's a month's loan and I suppose if Steve comes back match fit then there's a lot of sense in him going there.

The other news I saw there is that Simon Carden has been released by Boro. He was an asset to the team when he played for us so I hope he's soon fixed up with first team football with a decent side.

There's more about Hacker, Howson, Ikeme returning to Wolves and a new keeper playing in the reserves tonight in the Accy Observer: http://www.accringtonobserver.co.uk/..._id=11779.html

Re: Halford

yeah and if knowsthescore means that then OK

But i think he was implying that hacker should get match fit in resevers because if he was then hacker will not get match fit because the reserve games arent exactly the most gruling games to play in where as in a fist team there is much more competion

Re: Halford

At the Supporters' Club Meeting last Monday , John Coleman was very frank when questioned by Members on a wide range of subjects - including Steve Halford.

He explained that in his (very considerable) experience of working with the player , Steve is the type of footballer who needs First Team football to get match fit ; the reserves are not an option. So Hacker's best interests - and those of Accrington Stanley - would be best served by a loan period to a friendly club in a lower division.

What he said on this subject, as well as many others, made a lot of sense and was much appreciated by the Supporters' Club .

Re: Halford

although hacker has done a decent job in the past i personally think his discipline and miss-timing of tackles will still cost him and the team games.his distribution has never been good.
i would much rather have kept howson who i thought was more cultured and a great passer.
before the post is bombarded with replies, these are my own personal views as is football.

Re: Halford

I also think Hacker is our best defender when fit. He bosses the back 4 and I feel his distribution is very good, he can read the game well, has speed and most of the time is a very good tackler of the ball.

Hope your back soon Hacker............

Re: Halford

It seems a long time ago (but isn't) that our toughest, biggest, most fearsome and athletic defender was Mark "Carlo" Sertori. He had a young protege called Steve Halford working alongside him.

Suddenly, Sertori was not there anymore, and Halford had to don the mantle. He did so with an astonishing maturity , and sooner than most of us expected. I rate him as one of the most committed footballers I've ever seen, and I look forward to his return to the side. A fully fit "Hacker" will be an inestimable asset to Accrington Stanley for the second half of the season, so please let's all be patient.

After all, we're 3rd in the Conference with no Rory or Steve ; just imagine what they'll contribute upon their return . . . that's their fully fit return !

Re: Halford

Well said, Henry. Look at our record when Hacker played at the start of the season.

Re: Halford

From the West Cumberland Times and Star: '...unable to find a way through a gritty Radcliffe defence in which new recruit Steve Halford was outstanding'. Well done, Hacker. You can see the full match report at http://www.timesandstar.co.uk/sport/...aspx?id=153788. For those interested in minority sports there's even a 'Gurning' link!
