International clearance

Not knowing much about these things, can anyone offer an informed opinion on how long it might take to get clearance for Boco? It looks unlikely this will come through in time for tomorrow's game and I seem to remember Burnley taking ages to get clearance for a French-based player last season -- although I think there was a contractual wrangle involved.

Any info?

Talking Re: International clearance

This is what we are all waiting for includin Bocu

From the FA site :

The International Clearance Certificate is a FIFA recognised document which governs the transfer of players from one country to another. Without such a certificate no English player may play overseas and no players coming from abroad may play in England.
You can read more about it here :

http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesAndR...lTransfers.htm

Hope that answers ya question... buerocratic paperwork

Re: International clearance

Thanks Jimbo

Usual load of FA mumbo. What I was getting at is how long it takes to get clearan ce -- suppose it's how long's a piece of string! Probably depends on whether it's French holidays, which direction the wind is blowing and if there's an R in the month.

Just hope it's through soon.

There shouln't be a problem as he is French and Nationals from European Economic Area countries can enter and work in the United Kingdom without any restrictions, just like British citizens.

Re: International clearance

According to the Burton match preview in today's NLP, "Accrington boss John Coleman will have the chance to give a league debut to his new signing Romauld Boco." Do they know something we don't, or are they just talking garbage?

Re: International clearance

This is getting absurd, but it's not the club's doing -- just the tangle of red tape that the football authorities surround the game with. I remember it taking Burnley six weeks or more to get clearance for one guy and the FA website says that players maY be made to wait for up to a month. As I undertand it we only have Boco signed until Jan -- be lucky if he gets a first team game in at this rate.

I noticed that last week's Observer reported that he had been signed until Christmas. I'm surprised that no-one else has mentioned this until now. It seems rather strange that, on the one hand, we are hailing him as potentially one of the biggest signings the club has ever made, while, on the other, he only has a four-month contract.

Rob, could we have some further info on this?

Was the club's decision, i.e. give the lad a short-term contract to see if he lives up to expectations, giving us a cheap opt-out if he doesn't? Do we then have the ability to extend his contract unilaterally if he is as good as we hope?

Or was it the player's/agent's decision, i.e. wait until the January transfer-window and see if a club in a higher league come in for him?
