Re: Paul Scholes

I really can't get upset about Salford or Scholes.

Salford aren't the first club to move up the greasy pole with the support of rich owners, and I'd far rather rich owners of football clubs were retired footballers who had enough sense to put some of their money by, than international conglomerates or foreign wheeler-dealers or biznismen. And if they do end up in the same league as us in the next few years, it's another local derby which should be worth having. Whatever their ambitions, they won't be playing United or City any time soon.

Similarly, I hope Scholes does well at Oldham. I reckon it's a shame we've changed places without meeting them - but do hope when we do meet it's in League 1 (or higher of course )

the hing is a certain peter lim who i know nothing about is the main shareholder at salford whilst the ex footballers you mention are only small stakeholders in the club but are used as some sort of front by the media who seem to have a love affair with them. the forest green, crawley fleetwood and now salford and fylde have gone up or trying to get up the pole only by being bankrolled and nothing else. would still prefer going to a fixture against the likes of hartlepool, stockport and york than the new money brigade.
