Are there rules against fielding players born out of wedlock?

if there were then Alty, Morecambe, Barrow (there *****), Burton and Southport would all be unable to field a team! Probably Hereford as well although Agricultural regs being what they are it might be impossible to prove illegitimacy

Re: would you wish ill on another club?

It wasn't only Torquay who played an ineligible player in this match. Hereford did the same.

Hereford and Torquay play ineligible player's in same game | Premiership News | tribalfootball.com

Torquay lost 1-3.

It's unprecedented for both teams to field ineligible players in the same game.

The FA can't win.

If they order a replay it's hardly fair on Torquay's play-off rivals that Torquay should have another bash at the three points.

If they dock Hereford the points they gained, but not Torquay, it punishes Hereford more harshly than Torquay for the same offence.

If they dock both clubs points it would go against precedent (clubs are usually only docked the points they won as a result of playing an ineligible player).

If they let the result stand it's not really fair on Hereford's relegation rivals that Hereford should keep illegitimately won points.

I'm glad I'm not on the disciplinary panel!

Re: would you wish ill on another club?

Very true thin monkey - the fairest way would be to set a NEW precedent that fielding an ineligible player means losing all points which could have POTENTIALLY been gained whilst the player was on the pitch, ie 3 points per match played regardless of actual result (plus the usual fine). This is the only credible solution IMHO

Have any other teams this season been docked points, if not then ^^^ that is a fair solution.

Re: would you wish ill on another club?

well that's not a bad outcome really for us, not too bad for Torquay neither. Nah then, does that put the Welshies any nearer to the BSP?

Sad news indeed - I'm gutted Wondering why they've been given different punishments though when it's for the same offence in the same match???)

Probably because Hereford won the game and gained three points.
