Post Re: CUP RUN FEVER

I think we're talking at cross-purposes here, Adj. I was being a bit of an anorak and talking about Church FC who got to the quarter-finals of the actual FA Cup in 1885 before being beaten 1-0 by Old...

Post Re: CUP RUN FEVER

Hopefully, we can beat Colchester and draw a big name in the next round...but will we make it to the quarter-finals like Church?

Post Re: Hippodrome

That second picture is a nice one, Atarah, but it looks to me like a black and white shot that's been tinted afterwards...and whoever did it didn't have a clue about the correct livery for Accy buses!

Post Re: Hippodrome

Nice to see an Accy Corporation bus in all its glory, too. The  town is much the poorer for their loss.

Post Re: ASFC-Old Report

As the Fleetwood match was a reserve game, I don't have any access to any records for that, so I can't pinpoint the date.

However, I'm more convinced than ever that the year was 1937. There's a...

Post Re: ASFC-Old Report

Couldn't read most of it, my eyesight's probably as knackered as yours. I just picked out key phrases like "covered accommodation" and "new dressing rooms".

Post Re: ASFC-Old Report

My guess is 1937 and yes, the ground improvements did take place. The old Burnley Road "scratching shed" was replaced by a new covered stand (which in turn was replaced in 1958 by the ill-fated...

Post Re: Accy Places

You're right, Mez. That's why the cafe was called the Melbo Snack Bar. They always had an ad on the front of Stanley programmes in the late 50's.

Post Re: CUP RUN FEVER

If they play like did on Saturday they'll win it. Sheer poetry, especially in the second half.

Post Re: Photo Number 9

Mik, you're thinking of the Richmond on Brown Street, but it's not that one. Can't make up my mind whether it's the Woodnook or the Antley.

Jon Anderson used to live on Norfolk Street. He was born in 1944 and left for the bright lights of London circa 1966. I worked with another member of the Warriors, Mick Brereton, on the highways dept...

Russia Street, like Swiss Street and Poland Street, was named after the countries that Mr Frederick Steiner's turkey red dyeworks in Church exported to.

I've got to be honest, I nicked that from...

Post Re: Mascot grand national

Roy, if you follow Stanley, you've gotta read the NLP. They have in-depth reports of Stanley's matches every week. Not as entertaining as Tin Monkey's reports, but still worth reading nevertheless.
