Re: Seagull Problem in Clayton?

To try and answer your questions:-
1) The roof was a flat roof with an edge wall so that things (nests etc) could not be seen from the ground.
2) The roof had various 'plant rooms' built on it...

Re: Seagull Problem in Clayton?

If you have seagulls, you have problems! You have probably either had a chip snatched from you at the seaside or seen film of them doing it, unfortunatly that is just a simple demo of their skill in...

Re: End of the Forum?

This is probably not the right place to comment on this but in the 10+ years I have been a member of this site I cannot remember ever having seen any adverts. Before anyone makes the obvious comment...

Re: End of the Forum?

I would be very sorry to see the forum fail. Over the years it has been a fertile source of information on one side of my family, not only answering (often without me asking) many questions but also...

Re: Math of the Labour Landslide

I think all the contestants had very poor campaigns. I had no callers requesting my vote or asking my views on anything, neither did I get any leaflets through the door. I presume all/most of the...

Re: Math of the Labour Landslide

[QUOTE=MoreJoe;1278433]This Labour “landslide” victory is based on some odd math.

It worked hen it was devised several hundred years ago but there were only two parties then. Since...

Re: Artificial Intelligence

Microsoft is setting up an AI R&D centre in London (1). They may have got this wrong. The greatest problems with the currently available AI is the total lack of 'proper judgment' in the results it...

Re: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Another perhaps somewhat less obvious fiddle is the 3 for the price of 2 deals you can come across. Its ok if you buy 3 but if you buy 6 you are charged for 6 not 4. Its a real pain in the purse...

Re: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Clearly I have caused some confusion so I will clarify. When I originally posted I was more than slightly p***ed off having failed to get several items from my shopping list, having been soaked by a...

Re: Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

OK I know its an oldish thread but seemed the most relevant. I've just been to the 'supermarket' for the weekly shop. They have been selling Easter stuff for ages and ages. They started with...

Re: Marbles lost.....Marbles recovered

"Grandad can you teach me to drive?" Should always be be answered with a solid and polite NO. Double declutching, pausing on a hill with the clutch, and many other things like sticking your arm out...

Re: Legitimate Interest?

Its usually worth a quick scroll to the bottom of the 'Manage Cookies' window where you will often find a 'Reject All' button.

The sites that really annoy me are the sites that will not let you...

Re: Artificial Intelligence

Given that over the years I have come across several people who claim computer skils but who would fail the 'Turing Test' if it were applied to them the answer must be 'user beware' in exactly the...

Re: Just a Heads up

Its a good idea to keep the Action Fraud URL bookmarked in your browser so that you can quickly and easily check the reporting details as they vary slightly depending on what you need to report. I...

Re: Network Outage Outrage

There is one thing you can do to minimise the effect of a company wide network failure. Make sure that the company that provides your landline is different to the company that provides your mobile...

I'm not sure if this is in the right thread - but it relates to education, both domestic and school - so here goes.

At a very young age it was drummed into me to wash my hands regularly and...

This 'new' song is quite interesting. I think that if I had just heard it without knowledge of its history I would have classed it as 'not one of their best' but that would have been somewhat...

Re: Voice network shutdown via copper line

A couple of points about the demise of the 'copper landline':-

1) Not all cell towers have 'Uninterruptible Power Supplies' (UPS aka Battery Backup) and so will be off air during power failures. ...
