In the 50's we entered the tunnel wearing wellies, and all carrying torches. Heading under the (then carpark, now Arndale) I can't recall if there was a branch of tunnels, but I'm sure I recall...

The Century Theatre was also on Union Street Carpark near where the famous round toilets were built. My sister is 5 years older than me and went to the High School, I think she went to see a show. ...

First had Black and Tan in the Hope and Anchor, Bitter and Draught Guinness. Another one, but not my preference at all was Black Velvet, Cider and stout I believe

Mrs Stewart at number 8 was my mum. She died in 1999. I have viewed the house on Google Street View. My brother in law Ormerod and sister Jean live in Brierfield. What number are you at?

Ah fond memories from all of you, thank you so much. Was there myself from 60-65 in the 's' forms 1 through 5, Mr English was a new boy in my time, do remember Mrs Ferguson and Mr & Mrs Scull....

First time post from New zealand. From memory, the original shops were demolished after a runaway truck crashed into them. I think the driver's brakes failed on Manchester Road.
