The involvement of schools is certainly a good move......parents and Grandparents will turn out just to hear their litle darlings sing........and may buy some roasted chestnuts, or a hog roast barm...

Poster design could be put out to local schools - the more people who are involved in the planning and development of the idea, the more will attend and see the fruits of their/or their childrens...

Dave, I am not advocating an 80-90 hour week........It takes planning and working smarter, not harder.
As Gayle has said what is the hard part is getting people on board....and that is harder still...

I think something like this would be a real family event....especially if local schhols were involved in the singing, dancing, and perhaps some littlies performing a nativity play........at the risk...

There is no reason why the current Market stalls could not be used for such a venture......at a nominal cost seeing as money would be saved by not having fireworks.

Yes and a lot of those on that bus pay nothing to go there....and once in Manchester will mooch around the Arndale where it is warm, well lit and vibrant and spend very little.......they will window...

Yes, a sponsor like Ossy Mills would be a very useful partner in an event like that.

And getting schools involved would ensure that family members would be present at the event....after all...

you don't have to go as far as Grassington for a Dickensian Market...Whalley has had one for years.....let's be different...a Victorian Market...hot chestnuts.....fire baked spuds....mulled wine,...

I know exactly what you mean. The Market in Bury is a prime example....it is packed. Even though they say there is no money about, the place is bumping and the cafes are full of people enjoying...

The market hall is a wonderful building....but it has had the heart ripped out of it.

It has no atmosphere. None of the hustle and bustle of days gone by. None of the anticipation of the lovely...

I don't like them either.......the animals hate them. This year before bonfire night wasn't too bad, but in previous years there had been sporadic 'setting off' of fireworks for weeks before bonfire...
