Cool Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

Does a tube of toothpaste really need to be in a box? Not when you consider that you can now buy a tube of mustard and that isn’t in a box. You can buy tubes of Primula cheese and no box as secondary...

Cool Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

If it is any help the ‘compostable’ or bio degradable seed pots take about three months to completely degrade but they have to be in soil. Nothing happens in open air.

I have a few bio degradable...

Cool Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

Over the counter medicines like Aspirin and Paracetamol (and prescription medicines) now come in “not so child proof” blister packs inside a box, when in the not too distant past they came in...

Angry Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

Yes but the ‘normal’ carrier bag was not charged for.

But if you are happy to advertise a supermarket and pay THEM for the privilege then that is up to you.

Unhappy Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

It’s not the cost but the principle of paying for a carrier bag that bears the issuing store details giving them free advertising.

In any case a decrease in the use of plastic bags will be offset...

Cool Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

Of course I took the free ones.

When the free ones run out I certainly won’t be buying any bags that show the store name, so turning them inside out becomes academic.

I guess that I will have...

Cool Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

Armed with 4 free carrier bags gained last week dispersed about my body I set out on my weekly foray to Asda, Grimshaw Park, Blackburn ready to make my point about the carrier bag policy change.

Cool Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

Ah! But in those days people didn’t do a bulk shop once a week. There were no supermarkets apart from the Co-op and most people didn’t have cars so the corner shop ruled and a weekly trip to the...

Cool Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

I’m not falling out with you BERNADETTE, just pointing out that if Asda want me to advertise their store they should pay me to do so or at least not charge me for a carrier bag.

This latest...

Asda and the others should pay us for advertising the store.

Angry Re: Asda Doing Their Bit

Asda carrier bags have a secondary use for me. I use them for non-recyclable waste so that my bin doesn’t get coated inside with rotting food.

So now I will have to buy some sort of suitable...
