The latest set of adverts from this useful? Company state that they are more helpfuller than they used to be, I think not! I wouldn't recommend them to find a course in English for any-one!

It makes you wonder about the education of the PR and advertising companies........or are they just treating us like dummies.......personally I hate it.
 
There was a bloke sat outside my pub this morning wearing a Man City shirt, but he had one of those 118 118 head bands on. He looked rather funny bless him.

Look out for him with the Channel 4 Drama (Sugar Rush, Nip/Tuck, etc)
 
It would be funny if it wasn't for the fact that the kids watching don't know any better and will pick up on this bad English......they'll be telling you that they are 'helpfuller' than little Johnny.......when everyone knows they are 'more helpful'.........they do, don't they......?
 
I have the same sort of grumble about written words like "kwik" and "toyz" not to mention that annoying reverse R in "Toys-R-Us" (which doesn't make sense anyway).
 
Do you realise, Margaret, that millions of pounds (or dollars) were spent in marketing to get that 'R' reversed...

Who is 'Sugar Rush'......I was talking about the 118-118 ad and all the other very bad adverts on TV......the ones that teach kids it is fine to spit out their soft drink.......the ones that let children think it is Ok to speak with a mouth full of food.........and I feel for the parents who are trying to do a good job in bringing up children to have good manners...good spelling and a good standard of English.
Television is a pervasive and insidious influence and we allow it into our homes.

Maybe I am just old fashioned......but I don't like the way adverts influence our children.
And on the spelling front...... I'm with you Willow.......very sloppy.

they must be treating me like a dummy margaret- what the hell is 118 118 i honestly havent a clue lol
 
118-118 is a directory enquiry company.......but watch out for their advert, because that is what this thread is all about.
So who's going to tell me who/what Sugar Rush is/are......?

ah cheers, i rarley watch tele,so havent seen it no wonder i'm baffeled ta lol ps and i always mute the tv when the ads come on lol

It's on Channel 4 on Tuesdays, after Big Brother, and its about a lesbian virgin in Brighton.

Definitely not for young eyes...

You'd be surprised how many are watching it! My little one came home from school the other day saying all her mates were watching it, could she?

At 12 years of age ............ over my dead body :mad: !!
