Well, before I start on this episode....I don't know if you have noticed, but anyway...I'm going to draw your attention to the fact that this is my 1000th blog.
I always thought that when I got to this magical figure I would give it up...stop the blog.
I really felt that you who read this stuff would have had enough of my ramblings.
I know that my blogging has been less regular of late......a sort of winding down.
Yet, it wasn't a winding down...it was just that real life...the serious stuff got in the way.
And it is right that the internet stuff should take a back seat when real life has other things for us to deal with.
Anyway...now I'm at this momentous milestone...well, it is momentous for me......I'm not sure if I will give it up.
Back to the blog.......Sue has had what she terms a 'rant'.......about the things that get on her wick, wind her up, get her goat.
We all have them don't we? Pet hates...though, I am not fond of that terminology.
Sue I didn't mind your rant. It made me smile because so many of the things you mentioned strike a chord with me too.
I'm short too(but perfectly formed)......and years ago I had quite a complex about being 'vertically challenged'
My husband used to joke that I had to have turnups put on my knickers....that I had 'ducks disease'....that my bum was too close to the ground.
Did my shortness of stature really make a difference in my life?
Well, apart from the imbuggerence of finding jeans that fit me....and dresses that didn't skim the soles of my feet......I guess I would have to say it didn't.(I did teach myself sewing skills so that I could overcome some the the disadvantages - alas I couldn't make jeans)
In fact in some instances it worked to my advantage.
I was working on a medical ward and a great hulking brute of a man was brought in.......fighting, swearing and generally misbehaving and making a real ass of himself.
The male nurse who brought the guy up to the ward(with two porters) said he would ask if he could stay to make sure I was safe.
It really wasn't necessary because I read this brute the riot act(even though I was shaking in my shoes) and told him if I heard another peep out of him all night I would give him the biggest enema he had ever seen.
He was put into bed and meekly obeyed instructions.......and went to sleep. In the morning he apologised to me for making a nuisance of himself.
Now, I'm not sure if he behaved because I am female, or because I was small and slight.
On another occasion I was in theatre and a consultant surgeon made a disparaging remark about my size.......I told him that there was many a big apple that was rotten....and while the sister incharge of the theatre admonished me in his presence, she told me in private that that was the best 'put down' she had ever heard, and that she thought I was plucky to say that to a consultant.
The things that get my goat...... a milk carton with only three drops in it, put back in the fridge.
Seeing sights you wouldn't waste a bullet on, when the sun comes out.......rolls of wobbly belly fat...legs that would look good in a butchers window.
How is it that a bit of sunshine tempts people to show off bits of their person that should be kept covered?
I dislike seeing cheese wire underwear peeking over the tops of grey trackie bottoms........I don't like seeing women with tattoo's(no matter how delicately/artistically done) I don't think you can improve on nature...or at least not with ink you can't.
I know it is personal choice, but I don't want to see these works of art...and why do so many people want to have the names of their children tattooed on the back of their neck...heck, if you lost your memory you wouldn't be able to see them.
For what it is worth(and that may not be much) tattoo's belong on seafarers, soldiers, muscley men......not ladies. That just takes equality a step too far in my book.
I'm sure if I thought about it I could come up with many more things that irritate, infuriate and generally give me the pip.......but would you read it?

Take a time out if needed but keep your options open.
