When himself came in from the flea market yesterday morning, he told me he had bought me something.
This did not set my pulses racing(I know...I am the cynical sort and ungrateful into the bargain)as my other half does not have a good track record when it comes to choosing gifts.
A dirt Devil as a Christmas present.
A hideously crude Tiffany style lamp in the shape of a cat.
An avocado when I was expecting a creme egg(it was around Easter time...a very long time ago)
These are only a few of the presents he has failed with. There were more, but I digress.
Anyway he looked in his carrier bag and couldn't find this gift.
He searched his pockets and then he remembered he had bought some ice cream and put it in the freezer out in the garage...my gift was in that bag.
He went out and retrieved my present.
It was a broad roll of double sided adhesive tape.
I don't quite know what made him buy it, other than I am always on the lookout for stuff for my card making.
I could not quite think of an application for this tape, but at least it was useful...even if not for my cards. Himself often raids my stash for stuff to use about the house.
I DO use double sided tape, but mainly the foam backed stuff because it adds dimension.
I use glue tape runners to attach backing paper, and this tape he had bought was too wide to use like that. I took it upstairs and put it in my adhesive box. I would use it for something...I just did not know what.
Overnight a brilliant thought came to me.
When I cut out intricate embellishments it is always a pain putting adhesive on them.
I usually end up with as much glue on me as on the paper.
Now with this I will be able to back the paper with the adhesive tape, run it through the machine and the die will cut through both layers and I will be able to peel off the backing and secure the die cut to my card.
Voila!
So at last, a practical gift that I can make use of.
