A ride out.

Thursday is usually a day without the kidlidids.......but today my daughter was having a college friend over to write up some work that they had been involved in. Daughter felt that she would not be able to give her whole attention to the work in hand if the tiny terror was at large......so she asked me......very nicely......if I would mind having him for the morning. So we called to pick him up just after 9am. Took him with us while we did our usual Thursday mooch round the flea market.....and the saunter round Aldi. He was very good really......he had a coulpe of rides on the little bus outsid Ethel Austin (didn't much want to go back in his pushchair)......had a little bit of a paddy in Aldi, but that was because his G'dad was chatting to a chap about watches.....as soon as we were moving again he was alright. Once we had done we decided to go for a run to Skipton. We thought that the terror would enjoy feeding the ducks on the canal. We also thought that he might have a bit of a nap on the way there.....he might have had all of 10 minutes and his eyes popped open as soon as the engine stopped. He was rarin' to go again. (where do the children get all their energy from)? We put him in his push chair and gave him the bread to hold. When we looked again he was munching on a slice.....it was fresh brown bread which he loves. I thought we might just have a fight on our hands to get the bread off him to give to the ducks.... but no, he was throwing slices like it was going out of fashion.
We tried to show him to break the bread into pieces.... but he preferred to throw whole slices. The pigeons and ducks were jostling to get the bread and they were taking bit straight from my fingers......he was laughing fit to burst. He thought it was hilarious. The bread was soon finished and we walked up the main street......it was really cold with a few flakes of snow blowing in the wind. I had managed to find a pair of mittens for the little feller......his hands were the colour of corned beef before I put them on for him. We went to the pork butchers and bought a lovely fresh pork pie.....it was still warm and we were warned to keep it upright so that all the juice didn't run out. We had intended to stay for a couple of hours but it really was as cold as a witches what's a name.....so we were glad to get back to the car and head off for home and a good hot cuppa.
When we arrived back at daughters she told us that she had had a very fruitful morning and had managed to complete the stuff that needed to be done.......I told her that the lad would be tired as he had only had about ten minutes of a nap.....he was in bed five minutes after we left and so she had an uninterrupted afternoon too. I should have a beautiful crown when I get to heaven!
