Of 'Call the Midwife' and I enjoyed every scorrick of it. Scraped the dish clean.
I can't wait for the next episode.

Miranda Hart as 'Chummy' plays such a good part in this drama series.
I read the book and Miranda Hart plays this girl to a T.
I have to say I laughed when she fell off her bike, chuckled when the uniform didn't fit.
Remembered the doll and Pelvis that she practised the mechanism of labour with....could empathise when she felt totally scared witless at being thrust into a situation which she had never before encountered(been there, done that)........and breathed a sigh of relief when she came through it well,(done that as well) and won the confidence of one of the nuns who had been scathing of her because of her priveleged background.

The sub plot of the fifteen year old Irish girl who was forced into prostitution, pregnant and had her baby taken from her was heartbreaking too.

If you haven't yet watched this program...then I heartily recommend that you set an hour aside next Sunday night to watch it.
It is good entertainment.......no foul language, no violence, no guns.......just perfect(for me). I wish more TV programs were like this one.

When i first read the title 'Call the Midwife' i thought it was going to be your reminiscing about your life as a nurse:)

Oh, Mick....this series is far better than my humble reminiscences.
It makes me wish I could go back and do it all again.......not in the here and now, but back then when there was no meddling from politicians.

Another great episode .... agree with everything you say, Margaret.
If my eyes leak anymore through happiness, laughter and sadness, I will dehydrate.

How rich were those experiences.....despite the poverty portrayed.......the riches were the ones that you cannot buy......the respect given to the nurses, the policemen, the nuns.
It doesn't make me long for those days, but it does make me long for a return to the values of those days.......alas, impossible I know.

No G....didn't see it. I reckon I am doing pretty well to get himself to submit to one medical program........I think another one might just be pushing it :)

This series of Call the Midwife interests me because it is within my living memory(I remember the midwife coming on her bike and handing Ma one of those big brown cardboard boxes - which was then left on the top of the wardrobe until the right moment) and also because it was linked to my field of work.
I did think of becoming a midwife but I got so engrossed in Gynaecology that I never made the move.
