Think it was taken over Bob, sure I still see the Riley logo on TV Comps but maybe wrongWhat sort of tool? This was a sports outfitters and maker of sporting equipment. Edward John Riley's firm became a limited company in 1897 and had a factory on Dale St (?) near Willows Lane. It was called the Willows works. Had a shop on Little Blackburn Rd. It was a nationally-famned company. Later moved to Padiham. Now extinct I think.
Would seem they are in Ireland now.

the rileys place on Dale street was used by Pierces upholstery, which was part of the riley group, Rileys at that time had moved to the old Pioneer works which was on either "Hood St, or Horne St, always got em mixed up, once took the late george best yon,as he was purchasing a snooker table.![]()
cheers Bernard, had a mate lived on yon, but could never remember name of street, fer some reason i always got me wires crossed.Horne St Cashy. The iron bridge is at the top of Horne St.

The pool table was of first class quality, as you would expect, but I think the price would have been a little dear, the Classic Table used by the EPA at the time cost around £750the Riley would have been a hell of a site more. However, the experience was good, if only to see how they actually produced the snooker tables, especial the slate beds
The one on Flog it wasn't a folding table Pudwoppa, it was a one piece rigid table as it took four of them to carry it into the room (which it showed) the baize and cushions looked in first class condition, think they had actually had it recovered, but it was a snip at £100The folding billiard and bagatelle tables are pretty cheap - they're always turning up on ebay. They're very difficult to find in good condition though - the baize tends to come away at the fold. I'd thought about getting one as a restoration project when I get some time... still haven't found the time yet
The big tables do sell for more. And the signature cues are pretty expensive.
Wasn't a full size one Pudwoppa, it was either a 5' or 6' by 3', but it was a one piece slate bed table top and it took four people to carry it into the auctionSorry - I saw the price and assumed it was a folding one. Can't believe a full size one went for that :O It must have been a tough crowd at the auction house. Knowing what they sell for elsewhere, I'd have had the reserve much higher than that if it was mine.
