I´ve lived in Mallorca for 8 years. I am sick to the back teeth of daft scouse accents. And why is it that everyone thinks that Accrington is in Yorkshire. You just get it on your holidays. I´m stuck with it year round. I don´t think that they´ve ever seen a map south of Birmingham.

No, but seriously it's not possible to know where all the towns in the UK are. I have big brain power as you should know from my name and I don't even know where Redruth is.
 
Redruth is definately down south. It is not as good as Accrington. So if you asked me where Redruth is I can tell you and Accrington as well.
 
The worst of the lot are the Yankies. If you say you're from England they ask you, "oh, do you know such and such a body from London".

Went to a tiny Greek Island a couple of years ago. Agistri, only a few hundred inhabitants. One of the old Greek fellas asked where I was from. When I replied Accrington, he said 'Aaaahhh, Accrington Stanleeeee'
Is nowhere safe?????
 
I have been asked this abroad and been greeted with is that near manchester united. I have though on a cheery note is that near accrington stanley
 
Just tell people you come from LA. That always baffles them. Whan they say where - just say "Lower Accrington" ....... Where's that they say......USA you reply..."Uther Side of Accrington".....
 
I think it's great everybody or most people have heard of Accy even if they do say " Accrington Stanley who are they" as if they are the first person to say it. We aren't a big city or anything and for people to have heard of our town is fantastic noones ever heard of Clayton-Le-Moors or Great Harwood have they?
