ALL THAT GLITTERS, etc., etc.

Last weekend our two young granddaughters (6 and 9) came to stay for a few days, it being the start of the school holidays. When they are here I like to have a couple of special projects for us to do, as well as all the usual stuff like making and baking, etc. This time, in my (debatable) wisdom, I decided that we would do some ‘specialised’ craft, and make Christmas decorations. I’m not really very crafty (not in that sense of the word anyway) but thought a couple of simple ideas courtesy of the Internet would be fine and should be manageable.

With this in mind I made sure we had the right equipment, including a good amount of glitter and stickers (it was my idea to incorporate glitter). I had to search a bit to get the glitter but I was determined that this was necessary and I bought A LOT! Oh! woe…..I only opened three small vials of the stuff to start us off and only put out about a quarter of each of these but we ended up with a glittering table, glittering chairs, glittering carpet, glittering hair, glittering faces, glittering children, glittering grandparents - and yes, even a glittering beard (granddad’s that is, of course). Who knew that such a small amount of glitter could go such a long way. Unbelievable! (‘Please don’t blow on the glitter, girls’).

It’s ages since I last got myself involved with the stuff - I should have taken the hint when I couldn’t find any in the first shop but I was determined we should use some hence there are now a number of containers of glitter hidden on a VERY high shelf….hopefully forgotten, which one day will probably make their way into a Skip with all other unwanted goods…enough said!

Have to say though that we did end up with some very pretty decorations, the girls enjoyed making them (to take home OF COURSE!) and that was the main thing……

…..meanwhile even now, days after, we still sparkle in places....

Dotti as an avid crafter I know what you mean about glitter.
I never start glittering anything without having my 'Glitter magnet' on standby.
Not a magnet in the real sense of the word, but one of those sticky rollers. I attack spills right away because glitter seems to be like bacteria....it has ways of transporting itself.

A lot of my glitter stays on my cards because it is heat embossed so once it heated it stays right where I put it.

The best thing is, the girls will remember the fun they had and seeing Grandpa with a glittery face will stay with them when they have children of their own.
