An expedition....

I have had a day off from my dissertation work today in order to go on an expedition to deepest, darkest Manchester for a bit of retail therapy. I needed some new holiday clothes and my companion needed maternity stuff. Only being a little bit pregnant, she is at the stage where her normal clothes are getting tight, but maternity stuff is too big.

It was a challenge but we faced it bravely and both came back with some stuff. I got a couple of pairs of shorts for my hols........Well, they would be more aptly named as 'longs' really. Gone are the days when I can get away with short shorts. At present, my legs are too white and hairy for the 'longs' too, but I'm working on it.......Honest.:D

Got a couple of guidebooks for Australia. Sparks wanted one, so I've got one for him and an AA Guide to Sydney for me. I also purchased a couple of tickets to see Madness at the MEN Arena in December. So all in all a good day.

We had a coffee when we got to Manchester. We were just sat chatting on a couple of comfy seats when an old lady walked in. God love her, but someone please shoot me if I ever get like that. There was nothing wrong with her to look at, but the smell............I haven't smelled stale urine like that on someones' clothing since I was a student nurse on the geriatric ward (when it was politically correct to say geriatric).... I was nearly gipping into my brew....... I know that old age happens to us all if we're lucky, but believe me...........I'm practising my pelvic floor exercises as I type this blog.
