Another kid killed

Quite agree, Mancie. By the way, are you same "Mancie" who was telling us on here just a few weeks ago that "the 70's, 80's. 90's were no more violent than today"? A U-turn that your hero, Tony Bliar, would indeed be proud of!
Wynonie in our day you fought with your fists only, you did not even put the boot in as this was considered a cowardly act, going round shooting and knifing folk did not happen as well you know, where this guy gets off is a mystery to me?

doesn't the violence portrayed in video games somehow have an effect......like dulling the shock of death....ah, but in a video game you have more than one life, so when you are killed you can get up and fight again.
Well, someone should tell these kids that in REAL life when you kill someone....they stay DEAD.

Very true Margaret! When I watched these little kids gunning down "gang-bangers," I told them that they shouldn't be shooting people like that. I mean there was blood and guts and all. They responded that it was okay " cause those dudes have guns and they woulda shot me. My guy is the good citizen:eek: !"

My thought is where do I start in retraining just these two little kids and/or their grandparents. I'm planning on talking to the Pastor about it first though.

Hey cousin Ianto, is the old grumpy coming out:) ? My thoughts is you have been diplomatically comical in your response up there! Keep up the good work and a big chin chin to you;) :D !

I abhor the use of violence in play......I will not buy toy guns, swords or other weapons for my daughters little boy. such behaviour learned at an early age becomes ingrained.

Hi Brian it's not often these days that I loose it, but mancie can sometimes talk sense, and I like the man but I have tried without success to give my opinion, if im wrong I will be the first to admit it, No I have no intention to go back to the 'old' me but thank's for the reminder.;)

MY mum wouldn't buy us guns for that reason and for the basic expense. However, I'm sure she was dismayed to find us all using various sticks as guns. Hey, how else were we to "play" cops and robbers or cowboys and indians?

One thing about the old Ian was the dander that he could raise. Gosh did he tick most everyone off at least 10 - 20 times. Maybe we could have a special "grunpy" for a day. Be interesting on some of those slow Accyweb days eh?

Quite agree, Ian, this is what I keep trying to say. I knew a fair few of the hardmen around town in the 60's (and Cashman did too!). You messed with them at your peril, but they would not attack an innocent bystander, knives were rare and guns were completely unknown!

A certain Mr Green rang me from Spain yesterday just to wind me how hot it was over there, tommorow I'll be having a pint with Mr Jukes from the Rossendale Valley both these guys are older than I am but, mess with them at your peril even today. Cheers Brian, who loves ya baby.:D

that wouldnt be mick would it?

I played cowboys and injuns as a child and had toy guns and bows and arrows (with suction cups on the end) and my friend had one of those plastic knives where the blade retraced into the handle and it looked like you'd really stabbed the person but none of us grew up wanting to do it for real. We knew the difference between reality and imagination.

I was quite surprised to see my daughter's English literature is all full of misery, violence and death. I'm sure we didn't have such morbid subjects in school when I was a teenager.

No cashy I can't go any further;) Getting back on thread where do you think these alleged 13year olds got their ideas from, to deliberatly stalk and then unmercyfully butcher this 16 year old young man is competely off the scale, I only hope that the sentences dished out to the killers reflects the gravity of the crime, but I somehow doubt it will. This country suffers from the 'do gooder' syndrome, the fact is they do no good, only mean well, or do they?

in all honesty ianto i think they get it from TV, Video Games,Films and the like, cos they are allowed to watch them when they are young and impressionable.also going back to what i said in post 14 also.
