There is news that all travelers flying into Heathrow will be required to self isolate for 14 days.
This move is something that should have been done right from the start of this crisis.
But no...people who have flown in from goodness knows where have been allowed to go about the country withou let or hindrance.

While the 'vulnerable' 70's have been required to isolate.
This is for 'our own benefit'......it makes little sense to quarantine the well for the benefit of the sick.

Am I alone in considering the term 'vulnerable' on age grounds, discriminatory.
I am in this bracket and I do not feel vulnerable.
I stay away from doctors.....and have a well developed sense of responsibility for my own well being.

I would like to determine for myself what risks in life I am prepared to take.
I would like to be considered sensible enough to plan my own life.

This isolation means that we have pushed the pause button on my life...except it is not me that has pushed the pause button, it is the government.
And this isolation is not living....I know that there will be many out there who do not agree with these thoughts.
Those who feel that it is right to stay home....but then if they had been given the choice, and had chosen that course of action for themselves, then that would have been acceptable.
We were not considered to be trusted with our own health....I find that offensive

thats all well and good, but is there a check on this isolation or is it up to the goodwill of these arriving?

Cashy I am not sure...but it needs to be a firm thing...although truly the damage is done.
It was done when the two people from China(one was a studenet at York Uni) were allowed into the country without any relevant checks.

tell what im pretty sure its self isolation what good is that? depending on people, given the media is always moaning about covid,

It seems that they will be checked coming in and told to self isolate...anyone who has a temperature will be removed to a place of isolation.....those self isolating will have to give the address to which they are going nd they will be randomly checked to make sure they are at home...anyone who is not will be hit with a fine....that is according to the article in one of the online publications.
But as I say, the time for all that action was at the very start of this crisis.

I quite agree, Margaret. It's really like shutting the barn door after the horse has bolted. I don't often applaud the government over here for much but I have to say they are doing the right thing over this. As soon as anyone enters the country they are immediately whisked away to a hotel for 14 days isolation.

There was major stuff-up earlier when the cruise ship Ruby Princess docked at Sydney and 2,700 passengers were allowed to disembark without waiting for test results even though apparently some had signs of the virus. They all then travelled to their homes via various means - some even to the UK. The awful result is that many of the cases here are directly or indirectly connected to that ship, and sadly a number of deaths have occurred. Imagine going on a trip of a lifetime snd dying because of it.

Yes, it should have been one of the first things that was done.....and another thing that I feel very strongly about is that those with the virus are not taken to be cared for in a hospital that only looks after the patients with this infection....they have isolated the well and put the sickest where there are other compromised patients.
I find that really daft(in fact I find it criminally negligent).
But then, who am I.....nobody with any influence.
