Well....... It has been a while since I last blogged, to be honest, I just haven't had the time. You see, an awful lot has happened in the last couple of years. I have moved house, moved work, been back to University, been to Australia for a few weeks, got myself a new Niece, given up smoking and am now coming to terms with learning how to relax.
It's not easy is this relaxation mallarkey when you're not used to it. The reason for the enforced relaxation is due to an operation which was very much expected but ended up a bit of a rush job in the end. You see, it all started like this.........
Once upon a time (18 months ago), I started waking up at night with horrendous pain in my back. It was on the right side, just under my shoulder blade. I would toss and turn a bit, not able to get comfy I would get up, have a couple of pain killers, mooch about a bit until it settled then go back to bed.
This went on for a few weeks, just pain, no sickness, no feeling unwell so, I put it down to general wear and tear, years of working in the NHS taking its toll on my back muscles. I never went to the GP as we had the big Australia holiday coming up and I felt that if they found anything seriously wrong with me it would ruin the holiday - not to mention vastly increasing the amount of travel insurance we would have to pay. Now, I do know that it's a bit daft to be worrying about the travel insurance, but... I am as tight as a gnat's chuff and refuse to pay over the odds.
The holiday came and went. I tossed and turned my way round Australia for 6 weeks. It was a terrible winter here and when we arrived home, we found a pipe had burst and caused quite a lot of damage. The back pain was ignored as we dealt with the aftermath of the Tsunami in our back bedroom and garage.
So, 6 months after I first had the pain, I invested in a Wii Fit. A bit of yoga will sort my back out......... or so I thought
