Bad Pub Guide

The Hyndburn Bridge. Popped in there for a teatime pint with a mate of mine after a full day doing the accounts and it was diabolical. The pub and furnishings, although not being in bad repair, just screamed out of some punters and something to make it inviting. Lighting the log fires is a surefire winner. The beer wasn't kept properly and the landlord seemed not to want our custom. We left fairly quickly.

Now The Royal in Great Harwood.....proper pub!

I can't remember the last time i went to a 'good pub'. Cheap alcohol in shops don't help... whatever happened to community socialising??

Went out Te window with the demise of the tap room in favour of wide open spaces, plastic flowers and piped background music:(

I would like to add to this list.

I suspect it is the Stop and Rest, even though the Heys Inn is nearer to me.

Their locals are attempting to sing karaoke style and they can be clearly heard across the space between me and them, which happens to be the size of 4 football fields.

Any pub that permits such levels of bad noise isn't a good pub:(

PS It must be a pub - a home barbie would have already been told to 'shut it' by neighbours.

PPS - gone quiet now - someone must have complained - not me - I was still looking for their phone number.

There has been an event on at Rhyddings Park, would it not have been that ?

I sincerely apologise to the Stop and Rest pub.

"Alan Davey, Chief Executive, Arts Council England said: ‘Our Big Gig will be a real summer highlight. Up and down the country, communities will be involved in running their own music events, in a range of venues, introducing audiences to new bands, artists and styles of music. This is a great opportunity for communities to think big, to nurture home grown talent, and to come together, in celebrating the many joys that music can bring. I can’t wait to see the results.’

It was a 'music' event:rolleyes: - though that 'event' should have ended over 2hours ago.

I thought it started at 12 - the crafty bits, funfair etc till about 4pm and the music didn't start till 3.30pm till 6pm ... I heard gayle on the radio earlier on with Stephen lowe ...

It just sounded like very bad karaoke to me - the 1st link I gave said
"Sun 14 Jul 2013 12:00 - 16:00"

Ok - remove my posts then.

How could I have expected public/council sponsored and 'rates paid for' 'music' to be THAT BAD !

Probably the music wasn't so bad Margaret, just another sign that you are getting old;)

I am not entirely outdated.

Of my three grandsons, two are into 'trendy music' - one is a drummer in an indie rock band, and the other composes electronic music, has had tracks recorded and they sell - and I like to hear them !

I know when singing is out of tune, just as I know how to cringe when a blackboard gets scratched.

Last year in Morecambe almost every weekend there was live music on the prom for most of the day about half a mile from where we live. Most of it THAT BAD and we couldn't get away from it even at that distance. Hasn't started again this year yet, probably will when the school holidays are in full siwng. OK yes I admit it I'm getting old.

When I heard it, I thought that it was someone in a car below my window - that loud - really !

I am 4 football fields away - how people who live on Fielding Lane reacted, I dread to think.

Summer should not be an excuse to cause noise nuisance - we have laws against it, don't we?

PS this was 'music' in the same way as 'crotcheted spirals' was art.

I was sat outside the Stop & Rest and the music wasn't loud even though the band were next to the pub.

Where are you moving to that is silent with no pollen?
