Phew !!!! well we just got back from taking grandchild through and i must say although ive seen most of them before there are some stunning ones up north nr bispham the ones at the side on the prom itself . the grandchild loved these more than the rest that are above .would love to see them all the way down the prom eventually . It was also good to see blackpool so packed it was buzzing for once ..everyone having fun ..:D

Anyone else been through this year ?? what did you think ?......

So far we've only seen half of them. Went for the switch on and then saw the ones from there up to the north but haven't seen the ones down the south end yet. I think the ones designed by Lawrence Lllewellyn Bowen are lovely.

Last time i went through the illuminations was at 2am in the morning - about 20 years ago - they turned them off as we were going thro!!!

Yes they are willow although i was expecting something a little more twinkly..
Was in Blackpool in June, first time in years. Was very disappointed but my sister-in-law was made up. She was over from Oz and wanted to relive her youth so we did Blackpool Tower and the circus, upstairs on the tram in fact just what she wanted to do. She said it was her best holiday for years so that's all that matters.

I wasnt sober - but i wasnt drunk either. Had gone with my boyfriend at that time after the pub had shut in his works van with about 6 others!!!!

I used to like the ones which you couldn't tell what they were until they were lit and then depending on which ones were in or out they made the pictures. It's not the same with these painted shapes and I don't think the Dr. Who ones are a good likeness which is a shame considering he switched them on.

I never go to see the illuminations because when I was a child our family spent many weekends at my great aunt's boarding house in Bispham, and the novelty wore off.
I do travel up the prom on a coach in daylight on my trips to Cleveleys, so I notice any new tableaux. Which is the one desgned by LLBowen? Could it be the one which looks totally blank in daylight - if 'yes' what does it depict when lit?

They are sort of twinkly and have paisley shaped things going across the top. They're near the tower I think if I remember corectly.

going to get my mate Richard to take us sometime this week seen as he's off work for a fortnight :D

I still havent found out how someone knicked the Egyption mummy from its coffin a few years ago... Can you just imagine if you had had a few drinks ,, bumping into someone dashing down the tram tracks with it,,,,or trying to put it on a tram...

that david cameron is up there isnt he?
shove him on the lights and switch on, maybe then ill go!...;)

well hubby and me went out for a meal yesterday early evening and when we reached the motorway roundabout the traffic along yeadon way where backed up and at a standstilland long ques starting on the m55 .. must say weekends this year have been horrendous ..

YES THERE ARE DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU LIKE ... WE WENT TO A PLACE CALLED THE OUTSIDE INN YESTERDAY AND THE FOOD WHERE DELICIOUS .. IF YOU COME OFF THE MOTORWAY AT THE NORTH SHORE TURN OFF AND TAKE A RIGHT TURN DOWN TOWARDS B&Q YOU WILL SEE IT ON YOUR RIGHT .JUST NEXT TO B&Q . THEY DO A LOVELY MEAL WITH GOOD SERVICE BUT REM ITS A FAMILY PUB SO YOU MAY GET KIDS IN THERE .. FAILING THAT THERE ARE QUITE A FEW ITALIAN ,INDIAN REST IN TOWN ITSELF THAT ARE PRETTY GOOD
