My 5 year old dishwasher is poorly. It's not dead yet, it's still showing numbers and symbols in its little display window, but it won't program. It won't do anything.

I was just about to go to bed, last night, when I found out. The dishwasher was loaded up with 2 days pots, pans and cutlery. We generally use it every other day as there's only 3 of us, me, my daughter and my granddaughter. We normally put it on when we go to bed, too, so everything's clean for morning. Anyway, I switched it on and all its symbols came on at once. I couldn't do anything with it.

Daughter and I got the manual out of the top of the "mugs and dishes" cupboard. There's a small section saying "If your appliance doesn't work properly". It has a list of alarm codes that can appear on your machine and the first one is E1 and it says, "Not used on this machine." Guess which alarm code is showing, as bold as brass, on my machine. Anyway, I had to empty everything out and wash it all by hand

I've had Yellow Pages and Thompsons out this afternoon - look for large advert. First I rang a place in Warrington and got the discontinued tone. Next I rang a place in Liverpool that says it covers all this area too. I got an answering machine and I'm waiting for a ring back. :( Actually there is an electrical shop in the village, run by 2 brothers who've been in the business for donkey's years. They have repaired a kettle and a vacuum cleaner for me, in the past, so I'll ask them if they can do dishwashers. Fingers crossed, washing up's a pain. :D

My dishwasher is A 1943 MODEL.......there was no manual with it....i have to use psychology and coercion....it runs on cups of tea....and has been known to even put the pots and pans away....by the way it is called David (Dave).

Seriously, I hope you can get it fixed Cath.....we come to rely on our bits of equipment.

Oh I got my first dish washer in 2006. before then it was called PAUL!! :D

Before I got one I always thought that people with dish washers were very lazy!!

HOW WRONG WAS I?? god I love my dish washer like one of the kids..... and god forbid anything happens to it. If something does go wrong with it ( please god, don't let my baby go wrong) I will be straight on ti blower for another one!! :D
