Thank you to Garinda, H.R and Lettie for your good wishes for my sister......I spoke to her this morning...which is tonight in their money. I do hope I'm not confusing you......she was just about to take the picolax......and was just about seven feet away from the toilet.
Nessa didn't call it picolax......she had some other enchanting names for the stuff........I think one of them was 'where'smycolongone'....the others were just too rude to put on a family page......I think 'where's my colon gone' about sums it up. She is understandably nervous, but at the same time feels fairly well prepared. She is a nurse too (it runs in our family - like diarrhoea) one of her main worries is that she doesn't want to make a 'fuss'...or be thought to be a softie. I have told her that I will be surprised if she makes a fuss.....and I KNOW she is not a softie. How can you think you are soft when your only baby is by Ventouse......and she never made a muff for that.
I just WISH I could be there for her after to help her out. Her hubby is taking some time off work.....and I've gently suggested to her teenage daughter that her Mum will really need to rest and not get too stressed when she has had this op......but 13 year olds, well, it goes in one ear and out the other.
The remains of the brontosaurus have been chopped into mouth sized pieces and chucked in a large oven proof dish with two onions, three carrots a good measure of barley and some good beef stock. It is resting in a low oven for the next 3 hours. I will make some herby dumplings and steam some sweetheart cabbage and a bit of creamy mash.....and that is our tea tonight. If the bl**dy stuff is still tough after that it will get the flingo. Amazingly, I had a couple of slices cold on a barm cake with some mustard and horseradish......it was very tasty and didn't seem that tough. (It was sliced very thin.....you couldn't quite read the paper through it, but almost).
I know this has nothing at all to do with brontosaurus stew.....but I am going to tell you anyway.....! I'm hooked on Deal or No Deal........I have to watch that show come what may. I am not a huge fan of TV.....but I find this show really has me in its grip. I first saw it when I was in Oz.
Over there the contestants are chosen from the audience every day.... not like here where they are on the show until they have been picked.
I think our version is better.......there is a very strong sense of group dynamics and I think that this is maybe what makes it so gripping.
I also think the game is very much like life.......events are like the boxes and our choices have far reaching consequences...which have to be lived with, whether we are pleased with them or not. See I told you it had nothing to do with stew......oh, and on that note I will go and give the stuff a stir(and a taste)!
