Bus passes

is it me or is this thread getting nasty and personal.

why shouldnt oap's have bus passes after a lifetime of taxation. workers pay tax three times on most items they buy, taxed on income, tax on the product then, v.a.t. at the till

Sadly there are a few who thrive on attention, of any kind, even if it's negative.

Even sadder are those who delight in being nasty, and bitter...for no good reason.

My mum's a pensioner, and sixty seven this week (sorry mum!)

She does have a bus pass.

She's used it twice.

Not getting that many chances to benefit from having one, as she's very busy by seven every morning.

Busy working full time to pay the taxes, like millions of other hard working people, with which to keep the wasters and idlers of this country in the luxury they've grown accustomed to.

She was really thrilled to use it though.

Like most who've grafted to fund the welfare state, it's nice when occasionally you're one of the ones who get a little something back for your efforts.

Absolutely spot on, mate.

If I didn't have to spread it around, I'd give you some! :)

I'm an official pensioner ... I don't get a bus pass:mad: However, I can fish for free without a licence:mosher: Given the choice I would take the fishing every time:mosher: I still have to pay for my deer and moose licences tho', and I don't get any discount on ammo, unless I buy it on seniors' discount day.

You get your fishing licence free Eric! You lucky sod, mine costs me $6 plus extra for the salmon and steelhead tags. As for bus passes, anyone who begrudges a free ride for pensioners is probably worried that their freebees might suffer when the well runs dry. Oh and tell your mum happy birthday from Canada G.

Excuse Me?:eek::eek::eek:

You think its ok to go round shooting moose and deer???? I assume you are joking, but if not, the words "different" and "planet" come to mind.

I feel a whole new thread coming on.

are you veggie?

he lives in Canada you 'moose' it's legal

Groove thinks Eric is cruel, shooting them poor animals...Groove would like to chase Eric over the coppice with a shot-gun and see how he enjoys it....Grooove will then skin you and wear ur skin like a trophy and stick your head on a pole outside the town hole- for the pigeons to pick at the soft, proteinful bits like the eyes etc...

Groove now uses MAX taxis as they are cheaper door to door.....Groove thinks the local bus is dying out.

You have two things at the bottom of your legs, yep that's it feet, why not try walking from A-B instead of wasting taxpayers money on taxes. There will be a time when your an OAP that you'll thank god you've a bus pass, cause you're too pow fagged to walk any great distance. Make the most of what you've got whilst you can. You'll be an old fart yersen one day.
