I said bye bye to the dogs this morning. My dad came back off his holidays in the early hours and I promised that I would have them home this morning. I have been looking forward to some peace after being constantly followed for that last 2 weeks.
I started preparing them for their trip home yesterday with a nice bath in the kitchen sink. I have to say that although they are tiny and relatively easy to bath they were less than impressed with my efforts. They seemed to shrink in the water and looked like a couple of rats until they dried. They were then groomed, eyes cleaned and given a chocolate drop for being good. They have both put a bit of weight on during their holiday at my house. I didn't know that miniature dogs could eat so much, they should be the size of Great Danes with the amount of food that they put away.
I packed their things this morning and put all of the stuff into the car. I was dreading trying to dirve with them in the car and feared that they would be jumping all over me. Would you believe that they sat still on the passenger seat and never came near me. If I'd have known that they stayed still in the car and didn't try to jump on my knee all of the time I'd have shoved them in there a fortnight ago.
They went absolutely mental when they saw my dad and step mum. They tore up and down the hallway dragging their lead behind them. I told my dad that I would go to the car and fetch their things. When I went outside they started crying and clawing at the door. I think that they may have got used to my company. They'll soon get back into their old routine though and at least I now have my settee back. I have had to cover it with blankets to prevent scratches but there doesn't appear to be any damage.. For now, I am getting used to the peace. It is strange not to have them in the house. I had just got used to being on my own again when they came to stay.
