chat Room.

Re: chat

i was using opera and it wouldnt work, just got in on internet explorer, was working fine last night...

Re: chat

actually mick, be careful as you might find that actually the users have too new a version of Java. If they get the latest from Sun it probably won't work. IIRC you need version 1.4.2 for teh chat room on here to work, Sun are currently sending 1.6.

Also one quirk is that good browsers such as Opera and firefox allow you to specify which version from all you have installed where IE only uses the system default one. This way you can run different software that have different java requirements

In Firefox/Opera, type "about:config" in the address bar and you can change all sorts of options - Remember with power comes responsibility!

Re: chat

fair enough, I just recall Jen having a problem due to the chat using an old version, Roy must have updated it when he did his refresh.

One other thing that came to mind was it could be a corrupt .jar file that has cached on emamums PC. Invalid bytecode is suggesting its not recognising the bytecode as java classes as opposed to not finding the class definifitions.

You might need to clear your cache completely ensuring java is also cleared down.

Re: chat

windows blocked because it could not verify something...
also the same as you put emzy!!

I was on it yesterday...why not now?

Re: chat

still not having any luck, trying everything i can think of..................

Re: chat

go to add remove programs, remove all java installs. reboot, then goto the link Mick posted and download/install that. Java Virtual Machines are teh runtime engine that makes teh chat program work. It sounds like your browser is trying to start more than one which suggests that you have a config issue. remove them all install just the one and it should be fine.

What browser are you using?

Re: chat

have you done what I suggest yet?, IE can't control which java version it uses very well
