I don't think they're going to sell many at £4 a throw pam, at the moment I'm getting fish for £2 a time from the Chinese on Dill Hall Lane, but I'll give it a miss at £4:o

i havent been to that chinese since i was about 14 Jay, i used to live up that area :D i moan at having to pay £2.75 for it when we go to Halifax, i certainly wont be paying £4 for it, i like fish....but not that much

Well, him on Whalley rd next to Oakleigh is doing fish and chips for £2-00 and they are Mmmm nice!

Who'd pay £4 for a fish?

That's before your chips, peas, gravy etc.

That'll kill the fish and chips trade.

You could go out for a meal in a restaurant instead at those prices......as long as you don't have fish I suppose.

yeah!! And the price of fish is??

sorry :o It had to be done!! and it had to me :D

You could?? Oh, hang on. Would you like fries with that?

Hahahahahaha.

You could, if there are 4 of you and you're all having fish, chips, peas and gravy it's going to cost about £6 a head at those prices.....that's £24.

serves em right if they all go out of bussiness

Serves who allright ? the fishermen who are having to pay the increased costs for fuel ?, or the Chip shop owners who are forced to up their prices because because of increased costs in basic supplies ?
nice to see someone who wishes misfortune on other folks who work hard for a living ,

I suppose it doesn't help that our fishermen have to adhere to European fishing quotas, this by itself is pushing up the price of fish:(

fish is better than over here i go a few times for fish and chips at tdmorden and halifax

I’m sorry to say but the fish and chips offered today are just tasteless compared to what we got in the forties and fifties. There is the odd chip shop that does produce a reasonable dish but in the main fish and chips is just an expensive, tasteless, stomach filler.

On the few occasions when I get fish and chips to take away, I always ask for a carton of peas. At least that way you get your full whack and it’s the same price. In fact if you order fish and chips twice, one carton of peas is enough for both meals.

The same goes for gravy. Rather than have them pour a bit of gravy over your pie and chips ask for a carton of gravy.

you get more if you order everything seperate jambutty..... one of many jobs was working in a chip shop horrible job, went home stinking of chip fat ...

When we were kids we used to rush into a chip a few minutes before it was due to close and breathlessly ask, “Have you any chips left?”

When we got the reply, “Yes! Just a few.” We would rush out even faster shouting, “Well you shouldn’t have made so many.”

i have worked in a kebab shop and a chippy and both times couldnt eat the food from there... when you are around it and smell like it and see so much of it you cant eat it......

shame that didnt work the same when i worked in a nightclub :D
