Christmas day.

It's been a beautiful morning. There were strange wisps of mist over the lodge this morning, and everything was whitened with a hoar-frost. It looked beautiful as I sat in bed, and looked out on the enchanting picture postcard scene. I'm very lucky to live in my little house with it's great view.

I didn't sleep all that long, but I did a little, and I feel good. Infact I ended up watching Doctor Zhivago until after four am, for the umpteenth time. Although I love the film I was getting mad because Julie Christie's makeup wasn't authentic. A seventeen year old wouldn't have worn pearly white lipstick in 1917, it's just too sixties. She was just so beautiful though, so I decided to let it go.

I called my brother's children as well as my cousin's two. They were all really excited. What made me happiest though was as well as wishing me a merry Christmas, they all thanked me for their presents. Good manners are my personal bug bear of mine. Luckily our children have had please and thankyou drilled into them, and it's now second nature for them to say them.

The only blot on today is that the hospital aren't allowing my cousin to take Giles and Harriet to see their Grandpa. We have decided to have another Christmas this year as well, when he is allowed to come home, so he doesn't miss out completely

I'm going to drive and pick up Mum at one o'clock, and we are sitting down at my brother and sister-in-laws for lunch at two. We are going to have a lovely day. A lovely, special Christmas day.
