coincidences.

Isn't life full of little coincidences? I'll explain what I mean.
Three years ago we(hubby and I ) spent 6 months touring Australia.
My sister had just moved out there and was living in Brisbane. She had only been there about 6 months.
Hubby suggested that I fly up to Brisbane and see how my baby sister was getting on. I booked a Virgin Blue flight and went up there on my own for a long week-end. Hubby didn't want to come and get in the way of our girlie talk.
Vanessa met me at the airport and I spent time at her lovely new home.
At some point over the week-end she suggested a trip on the City Cat....this is a boat that is used as a ferry up and down the river in the city. It was a lovely day.....if a little on the breezy side. We took her daughter and we were having a lovely ride along the river....I took some pictures to remind me of what a lovely place Brisbane is. I was sat looking out on the river when I heard the dulcet tones of a fellow Lancastrian...in fact the accent was so familiar I felt the the man must be from somewhere in the local vicinity of my home town....i.e. Clayton or Rishton. I couldn't help myself...I had to talk to this man......so I asked him if he would mind taking a picture of my sister, my niece and myself all together...with the Brisbane skyline as a back drop. Once this charming man had taken the picture, I felt I could ask him where he was from. Lo and behold he was from Accrington! We got to chatting and he told me he was on holiday too...and that he lived by the hospital in Accrington. I told him that I lived just a mile or so down the road in Clayton. My sister chatted to him and said it was good to hear another Lancashire voice (I think she was feeling just a touch homesick...though she would never admit to it). Once our little trip was over we bid each other farewell and wished each other a wonderful holiday. I have never set eyes on that man until today.

I was in Aldi...just got a bit of shopping done and there was a man in the queue who only had a few things so I suggested he went before us.
As he was paying for his goods he was packing them into a green and yellow shopping bag...it was the kind of bag that is much used in Australia to prevent the use of carrier bags......I said to him 'I bet you got that bag in Australia'.....he said 'Yes I did, how do you know that?'....I told him I had one like it......and I showed him my Myers re-usable shopping bag......I said it had come from Brisbane...he told me that his had come from Brisbane too.
Then he started to recount the story of him being on the City Cat in Brisbane when a young woman(I liked that bit) had asked if he would take a picture of her and her relatives....I was gobstruck and told him that the woman was ME....he was gobstruck too. What's more I was wearing the same skirt that I wore that day on the boat. We spent about 15 minutes chatting about how strange it was for our paths to cross in such a way. He didn't recognise me....and I didn't recognise him until he told the story.
Spooky or what?

Laughhhhhhhhhhhh.:)

If you weren't happily married I'd think you were fated to know this man.

In London I'd always talk to people I heard talking with an accent I knew was not far from Ossy. One women was amazed I detected her lilt because she'd lived there for forty years!
