Cold Feet.

One of my abiding memories of childhood winters, are those of having cold feet.
We didn't have fitted carpet.....we had a carpet square.....and in the kitchen we had coco matting(which now is quite fashionable and called coir) over a flagstone floor.
Lino or oilcloth in the bedrooms, so when you got out of bed on a cold and frosty morning, it was a real wake up call.

Going to school on snowy mornings in black rubber wellingtons with nothing much between you and the cold rubber(well thin cotton socks didn't offer much warmth).

I always vowed that when I grew up I would not have cold feet...cold feet meant poverty.

We went to Bury on Monday......the grass in the fields was thick with white frost.....I felt sorry for the sheep standing there...and some of them lying down in the frosty grass.
Yesterday I walked on the canal banking.
The canal was frozen solid and the poor ducks, geese and swans were slipping and sliding on the ice.......their feet, their poor feet was all I could think of.
I felt really sorry for them standing on the ice.
My feet......? Well they were toasty warm in my raspberry coloured shearling boots....these were not cheap, but they are on their third winter...and it means that I don't have cold feet.

like they say n its usually true Margaret, yeh get what yeh pay fer, I hate the cold n its berghaus weather now.

Just been and bought 3 full sets of thermals for the winter got them off the "George" website delivered free to asda for pickup at the DVD counter:confused::D
but at least i will be warm walking to the Railway pub:D

I have also bought some long johns out of Aldi.....they are grey, but I hope they keep my legs nice and pink.
My knees don't like this weather...they creak like mad and are as stiff as blazes.
