Who here complains.

I mean something isnt right with something you bought, eaten do you complain or just take it on the cheek.

Im a complainer.

Example.

I bough a Dog chew (Nyla Bone) the strongest chew in the world £12.00 it was so not cheap, lifetime guarantee. Anyhow after 2 months my dogs had managed to wear the bone down to a sharp point IMO dangeress.
I went to Pet warehouse in Ossy, Pfff no good said contact Nyla Bone direct.

So I did, In the USA, by email, explained what had happened, and wow within 1 week I had and appology and 2 brand new better toys delivered to my door shipped from the USA at least £30.00 worth at no cost to me.

I have complained about all sorts and most of the time companies are only to happy to help, compensate.:)

So who complains and who just puts up and shuts up.:D
 
I tend to put up and shut up!

The hubby is like you he complains about everything, i have to walk out of the shop when he starts!

The trouble with us Brits we do not complain enough, if you give a Yank a tough steak they will send it back, and insist and get a free meal if it has spoiled their appetite. If you get poor service tell them it's poor, or they will never improve, and if you are not satisfied with a product take it back and get your money refunded, do not be fobbed off with tinpot shop assistants playing the disclaimer non returnable card, there is no such thing they have to re-emburse you. If you have any problems inform the trading standards people, they will soon make them jump.
 
First of all ***Mr D*** the responsibility for the article rests with the vendor and your complaint is against that vendor not the manufacturer of the object. That is the legality enshrined in law. However that still doesn’t stop you from making a complaint to the manufacturer if you want to even if the vendor replaces the defective item or gives you a refund.

I’m a complainer but I balance the value of the item against the cost of going back to the shop. It’s not much use lodging a complaint and getting justice if it costs you more than the cost of the item to do so.

Just a tiny point Ianto.W. If “The trouble with us Brits we do not complain enough,” why do the Aussies call us whinging poms?

The real British problem is that many people are happy to complain about this that and the other to their family, friends, neighbours and even strangers but few tackle the source of the complaint. And when they do they accept whatever it is the vendor comes up with. Things like, “you have to return the item in its original packaging.” That’s a load of twaddle, although it does help your case if you can do so. “You have to return it to the manufacturer.” Absolute rubbish! You didn’t buy the article from the manufacturer, you bought it from the vendor and the vendor has the responsibility of selling an item that is ‘fit for purpose’. If it isn’t the vendor is responsible. The vendor can then tackle the manufacturer or wholesaler, but that has nothing to do with you.
 
I do complain and if I keep getting no for an answer I carry on complaining, addressing my complaint to someone more senior each time.

I had a problem with a car insurance claim that went on for nearly 9 months, but eventually I paid about £2.00 (to companies house) to get a list of the company director's home addresses. I then sent a letter, detailing all the things his company had done wrong and failed to do, by recorded delivery to the MD's home address. Within a week I had received a very polite letter from him, offering to write my car off ( at a very good price) and enclosing a cheque for £500 as a gesture of good will and offering me a free weekend break. All this was after one of his claim managers had told me I was wasting their time and the MD did not bother himself with such 'small matters'.

I think it is important to highlight poor service to the owner/director of a company because they probably have no idea how inefficient some ot their staff are.

I also find that lots of people have problems dealing with complaints from a woman and try to be very condsending as though women have no idea anything.

It really is important not to be fobbed off with standard disclaimers, if you have a genuine comlaint you should persist until you get it resloved to your satisfaction.

We all do in my family if we have something to complain about but also sometimes i do let stuff go. Me & my sis went shopping once and i needed a pair of sandals and they had to be white and also as flat as could be and comfy as i was being a bridesmaid and also 3inches taller than the bride and the chief bridesmaid. We traipsed all over blackburn, accrington, preston and ended up in Manchester. We ended up with a pair of shoes that was flat and comfy but there was a mark on them - a grey one that you could hardly see. The shoes were in a sale and there was only them my size. My sis complained about the mark and they knocked £2.50 off them. We brought them home and sis started rubbing at the mark and managed to get rid of it!!! My argument with AOHELL was documented on here - and they told me that instead of paying 17.99 for the net it would be 9.99. When they charged me 17.99 for it i rang them up and i got 2 months free and then it would be 9.99 for life.

iIonce had a something wrong with my mobil chair and when miller,s on mossco mill come out to repair it all was fine and the there was another firm in preston took over from millers, and i had more complaint,s to this firm i was phoneing them every week to come out to repair ithe chair and one morning they come out didthe job and left i got to the cornner of my block of flats and it stoped again so i phoned them up and i ask,t to talk to the boss and he came out to see me and him is slef was not pleased with the job they had done and then they got me a new chiar and i have never had anything wrong with it up to now so its like you say if you complaine it work,s

The beauty of email.:) and I always complain on principal.

Good to see there is a few of us who will stand up and be heard, I must admit though it can become addictive.:D
 
No hesitation in complaining if it's justified, but I also compliment people if the goods or services have been good.
 
I always try to say thanks when I feel someone has gone out of there way to help me.... it's amazing how much it can brighten someones day when you make a point of complimenting them on the good work they have done..:)
 
I'll complain about bad service or faulty goods. I'm paying for it so I expect it to be right. I also compliment when it's due and I have twice, in the past, emailed the AA to praise their repair men, not for getting my car going but for their courtesy, politeness and helpfulness. I dealt with the public for many years, in my job, and it was always very nice to get a word of appreciation so I make sure I do it for other people.
 
I recently found out I could get a re-fund/credit on a DVD movie rentals from Blockbuster , told them the movie was a load of crap and I wanted a credit (it was something with big names in it but had never had cinema release a 'straight to video' ) the attendant looked at me like I was crazy, but the Manager gave in , thing to remember though make sure you take it back within 2 days , don't wait 5 days til its due back

I complain if i feel strongly about something but normally my hubbys the one to put his gob into action if he feels something is wrong ...i walk away when he starts sometimes with embarresment and sometimes almost wetting my self cus its soo funny...
 
i tend to complain if the need arises, in fact i rang my internet provider to complain on friday about loss of connection, after a couple of phonecalls i got a months free connection, plus there sending me an offer of a much cheaper rate and its all because i asked to be put through (and was) to the cancellation dept.:D also told them that if the service did not improve during my free month- they could shove it anyway.;)

omg same thing here cashy....ive been offline for 3 weeks cus my ip told me i would have to wait at least a month for repairs so i went with the ones that supply my phone who also co.ked up and made me wait an extra week till i phoned and groaned to which i got a reduction for 12 months.. and finally back online..
