Computer Is Slow Help

HELP my computer is really slow. It is driving me crazy please tell me how to sort it before I throw it through the window.:mad:
 
Try doing a clean-up first - Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Clean Up - delete all unnecessary files, then run the Disk Defragmenter from the same menu. This should help a bit!

thats in your start menu bernie.... bottom (your) left.. click on that, then on programs from that list, then accessories, then system tools, then disk clean up.. then do it all again and choose disk fragmenter instead of disk clean up.
 
Thank you ladies, knew I should have taken more notice when Ianto was telling me what to do. Done a disk clean and now it is defragmenting. No virus present thank goodness
 
Have you got an up to date anti-virus? Mine updates on a regular basis. Sometimes if it's out of date you can miss a recent virus.

How about spyware check too?
 
hiya does anyone no how to find this if its not in system tools please? all it says wen i click on that is internet explorer no add ons

I dont like the defrag on this computer, just a box with nothing going on, much prefer the old one with the little squares dancing about, or even my other comps which have bars and lines.
 
Linux is the way to avoid it. :D

right click a drive in windows explorer and go to tools from there.
 
I thought it was always in system tools Lisa, but have a look in control panel. Or do as Ian says, hehe!

it used to be but 4 some reason alot of things have disappeared off my comp i dont have any of the games like solitair lol

If it isnt long since these things disappeared, you can system restore to a time before they were lost, but some things added since that time will disappear!
 
MOst of teh time teh games are still there, just that teh menu entry gets removed. go into c:\windows\ssystem32 and look at all executables, I can't recall teh exact filename but something is nagging me that it isn't 'solitaire'
